Just like now, they are doing very intense research on the working of the brain and the electronic circuitry of the brain = electronic impulses flowing between different neurons.

Electronic impulses to induce happiness

And they have..., their attempt is they put a gadget on your head which sends an electronic impulses, and they figure, "If we can find out the right program, we could make someone happy.

We put the gadget on his head, send these electronic things in their mind..."

Śyāmasundara: And it works...

Devotee (1): "...and they'll become happy."

Śyāmasundara: It works. Ātreya Ṛṣi: Temporarily.

Temporary nature of artificial emotions

They found it works. Even they can induce happiness or sadness or pleasure or fright or anything by finding the right spots in the brain.

Devotee (1): Finish!

Implanting electrodes for mental control

Śyāmasundara: You know, they can implant electrodes and have a big program, they say. Ātreya Ṛṣi: Permanent till when? Till the electrode wears out. Till they die.
