So śravaṇam, just you are very kindly hearing. This is also devotional service. Those who are patiently hearing these topics of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, they are also discharging devotional service, hearing. Śravaṇaṁ kīrtanam, and just you are reading, you are also rendering service. Similarly, those who are always thinking of Kṛṣṇa, he's also rendering service. Śravaṇaṁ kīrtanaṁ viṣṇoḥ smaraṇaṁ pāda-sevanam.

O conqueror of wealth [Arjuna], there is no Truth superior to Me. Everything rests upon Me, as pearls are strung on a thread. "My dear Arjuna, there is nobody else greater than Me. There is no greater authority than Me." Kṛṣṇa says. Now, apparently, it appears very dogmatic. Suppose if I say before you that "There is nobody greater than me," oh, you'll think, "Oh, Swāmījī is very proud." Yes. If a man like me, who is conditioned by so many, I mean to say, restriction, if I say that I am the greatest of all, that is a blasphemy.

So there is very good potency if we simply chant this Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra. The potency is, the first benefit is, that our dirty heart becomes cleansed. We have accumulated many dirty things within the heart on account of bad association.

We have got something, little strength given by Kṛṣṇa. Actually, Kṛṣṇa…, I am also Kṛṣṇa's. I am part and parcel of Kṛṣṇa. So in minute quantity I have got all the qualities of Kṛṣṇa. So whatever I have got, if we use it for Kṛṣṇa's service, that is perfection of life, kāma-rāga-vivarjitam. Therefore bhakti means sarvopādhi-vinirmuktaṁ. Bhakti, or devotional service, means engaging all our senses in the service of the Lord, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the master of all the senses.

"Father" means responsibility. According to our Vedic literature, one should not become a father unless he can deliver his son from the cycle of birth and death. Pitā na sa syāj na mocayed yaḥ samupeta-mṛtyum. At the present moment we are in the cycle of birth and death in the conditioned stage. So it is the duty of the father how to save the son from the cycle of birth and death. This is responsibility.

The last conclusion of Bhagavad-gītā is sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja [Bg. 18.66]. If we can surrender to Kṛṣṇa wholeheartedly, then we become eligible to understand what is Kṛṣṇa. That is the... Bhaktyā mām abhijānāti [Bg. 18.55]. We, if we are advanced in devotional service, then we become fit to understand Kṛṣṇa. But still, just to make us fit to understand Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa is describing Himself, what He is.

Anyone can understand. If you find out... That is our enqu... Philosophy means to enquire, athāto brahma jijñāsā, to enquire. Now this life, this human form of life is especially meant for enquiring about the Absolute Truth. In animal life we cannot do. There are big, big animals, tigers and lions and elephants, and big, big trees also, they are also living entities. Big, big whale fish within the ocean, very gigantic.

So we have to revive that. And as soon as you revive any one of them, intimacy, then we become happy, because that is eternal. The finger, so long is separated, it is not happy. As soon as it is joined, it is happy. Similarly, we have got our eternal relationship with Kṛṣṇa. Now we are separated, but as soon as we join with Him, again we become yenātmā samprasīdati. Therefore Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is beneficial for everyone, just to try to revive your original consciousness.

Real religion means love of Godhead. So instead of love of Godhead, the love of doghead is increasing. So where is religion? Everybody should keep a dog and serve him, and where is God? Well, they think that God is in the other world, so that in this world we can serve our wife and family, and when we go to the other world we'll serve God. Then God is separated from this world. How much imperfect knowledge it is.
