All glories to the assembled devotees. All glories to the assembled devotees. All glories to the assembled devotees. Thank you very much. Bring the, the one who is just I guess. No, no.

Today's subject matter is how how to do it matters. Nobody can speak. What is the subject? How to know Krishna? How to know Krishna from the beginning? Krishna from the beginner. How to know Krishna by the beginners.

Krishna says in the Bhagavad-gītā, manuṣyāṇāṁ sahasreṣu kaścid yatati siddhaye, yatatām api siddhānāṃ kaścin māṃ vetti tattvataḥ. Manuṣyāṇāṁ, out of millions and trillions of human beings. Sahasreṣu.

Sahasreṣu means millions and trillions. It is not so easy to understand Krishna. Those who very easily understand Krishna, they easily forget. Anything very easily understood, also easily forgot.

Transcendental realization, God realization is attained by brahmacarya, śamena, damena, tyāgena, śaucena, yamena, niyamena; one has to undergo all these processes to understand the Supreme Absolute Truth.

The first beginning is tapasya. Tapasya, brahmacarya. Śamena ca. Tapasya, brahmacarya, austerity; unless one is able to observe celibacy, it is not possible to undergo austerity.

Tapasya, brahmacarya, śamena, by controlling the mind, damena, by controlling the senses, tyāgena, by renouncing the material world, śaucena, by becoming actually clean within and out. Bāhyābhyantara-śuciḥ,

yaḥ smaret puṇḍarīkākṣaṁ sa bāhyābhyantara-śuciḥ. Apavitraḥ pavitro vā sarvāvasthāṁ gato 'pi vā, yaḥ smaret puṇḍarīkākṣaṁ sa bāhyābhyantara-śuciḥ. So śaucam, yamena niyamena — these are the different processes.

So who is going to accept all these processes? It is very difficult, especially in this age, in Kali-yuga, where the duration of life is so short. People are all rascals, manda, manda-bhāgyāḥ, manda-matayaḥ.

Not only rascals, they accept manufactured processes, spiritual processes, manufactured. Manda-matayaḥ, manda-bhāgyāḥ — all unfortunate. Unfortunate means that they have no arrangement even for daily fooding.

Āhāra-nidrā-bhaya-maithunaṁ — these are the necessities of the body.

But even though the birds and bees, they have got arrangement by nature, the human beings in these days, although they are supposed to be advanced, there is no arrangement. So many people are hungry.

So many industries are busy to feed them. Why you have created this situation? That they do not know. So these tapasya means... there is no question of that. So Kṛṣṇa is

saying not only in this age, in other ages, where people were able to undergo austerities and penances for thousands of years. Because in the Satya-yuga, people used to live for one hundred thousand years.

Therefore, Vālmīki Muni, he underwent austerities, meditation for sixty thousand years. He still had forty thousand years left. In Satya-yuga, the duration of life was so long.

In the Tretā-yuga, ten times less. That means ten thousand years. In the Dvāpara-yuga, ten times less: one thousand years. In the Kali-yuga, ten times less: one hundred years. That is also not possible.

Nobody is living for hundred years. Gradually it will reduce to such an extent that a man living for twenty to thirty years will be considered a grand old man. That day is coming in this Kali-yuga.

Liberation and the laws of nature

So Krishna says that “manuṣyāṇāṁ sahasreṣu kaścid yatati siddhaye”. Siddhi. Siddhi means mukti, liberation. Another siddhi, yogi-siddhi, aṣṭa-siddhi, aṇimā, laghimā prāpti. They are also siddhis.

But real siddhi means liberation. What is liberation? Liberation means to get free from the entanglement of repetition of birth and death. This is called liberation. Every one of us are subjected to birth and death.

Tathā dehāntara-prāptiḥ. As we are changing our body, dehino 'smin yathā dehe kaumāraṃ yauvanaṁ jarā. Tathā dehāntara-prāptiḥ. So dehāntara, now I have this body, you have this body. I'm now old man, 77 years.

So I may live five years, ten years more. I'll say I have 200 years. But not that I shall live forever. Neither, any of you. One has to, even Brahmā, who has got a very long duration of life, is still will die.

Every demigod will die. Ā-brahma-bhuvanāl lokāḥ. So death, as sure as death, everyone you know. So death, again take birth. Again take birth. This is called material disease.

bhūtvā bhūtvā pralīyate, once you take birth and again you die. So siddhi means that to conquer over this birth and death.

Aihiṣ-kañja-punar-janma-jayāya — when Viśvāmitra Muni met Mahārāja Daśaratha to take assistance of Lord Rāmacandra, Lakṣmaṇa, to take them to the daṇḍakāraṇya because

when rākṣasīs were disturbing, so Viśvāmitra he came for the assistance of the kṣatriya. The brāhmaṇas, they cannot kill. They do not take part in killing. They can kill. But this killing business is meant for the kṣatriya.

Therefore their name is kṣatriya. Kṣata—kṣata means injury. And triya, triatri, the society who delivers a man who is attacked by others. This is the duty of the king, security.

So at that time Maharaj Daśaratha welcomed him and asked him this question, iha sthānāt punar janma Jaya, you are undergoing severe penances and hostilities for conquering all that is human life.

If we forget this business, don't care for the next part. Let us enjoy life like cats and dogs. It is very horrible civilization.

At the present moment it is so misleading that any man, any common man, he has no idea what is the next life. Big, big professors. I have several times talked. I met one big professor in Moscow. Professor Kotovsky.

So I was talking with him. He said, Svāmī, after finishing this body, there is no ātmā. See, that's he is a professor. He's a professor of Indology, very important man.

He does not know why he, many professors here also, many scientists, they do not know that there is next life. They say, they think that after finishing this body, everything is finished.

Big, big professor, big, big education and staff inquired. I do not wish to name them. They do not believe in the next life. But that is not the fact.

As we have got past and future, just like I'm now old man, I had my past life as young man. There must be the future life, past, present and future. And it is confirmed by the greatest authority, Kṛṣṇa.

It is accepted by all the ācāryas, all the strict followers and scholars, as I would say, education is in Vedic literature that there is like tathā dehāntara-prāptiḥ, as we have got dehānta one after another, similarly we'll have another deha.

But what kind of deha, what kind of body that we have to prepare now while we are human being.

If we put ourselves in the laws of nature, then there is no guarantee what kind of body we are going because according to our mentality, we shall get another body.

Karmāṇā daiva-netreṇa, this will be decided by the laws of nature. Automatically. You cannot demand. Now, mother nature, I am Indian. I love my country so much. So I may be an Indian again. No, there is no such guarantee.

Even if you become Indian, if you become an Indian animal, then what is the reserve? He will be sent to the slaughterhouse. Who is going to save you as Indian?

When Indian means for the so-called human being, the cows are not Indian. They are to be slaughtered. This is our philosophy.

Well, India, cows are Indian, goats are Indian, chickens are Indians, trees are Indians, fishes are Indian, why they should be slaughtered?

So this defective philosophy is going on because they have no Krishna consciousness. Krishna consciousness person will not try to kill an Indian ant, what to speak of other ants. That is Krishna consciousness.

Not only India and anywhere. Suhrdaṁ sarva-bhūtānām. At Krishna, God is suhrdaṁ sarva-bhūtānām. He says, similarly, a pure Krishna conscious person, devotee of Krishna, he is also suhrdaṁ sarva-bhūtānām. Everyone's friend.

Not that I am friend to my brother and sister and nobody else. No. A devotee is friend of the ants according to Vaiṣṇava communism. A vaiṣṇava is advised to see that in his house not even an ant remains without food.

Even there is a snake one should see that he is also fed. He's not hungry or fasting. This is the duty. Where is that communism?

So Krishna consciousness has his own language that one who becomes Krishna conscious, he becomes the perfect man. Perfect man. Yasyāsti bhaktir bhagavaty akiñcanā sarvair guṇais tatra samāsate surāḥ.

If one is actually Krishna conscious, yasyāsti bhaktir bhagavaty akiñcanā. akiñcanā. He doesn't want anything except to love Krishna.

Devotional service and the preaching mission

Anyābhilāṣitā-śūnyaṁ jñāna-karmādy-anāvṛtam ānukūlyena kṛṣṇānu-śīlanam. So the pure devotee of Krishna who has no other desire than to love Krishna as it is in his status by Caitanya Mahāprabhu.

na dhanaṁ na janaṁ na sundarīṁ kavitāṁ vā jagad-īśa kāmaye | mama janmani janmanīśvare bhavatād bhaktir ahaitukī tvayi || My dear Lord, Jagadīśa, the Lord of the Universe, Jagadīśa. I don't want any money. No dhana.

Na janam. Neither I want any number of followers. No sundarīṁ kavitāṁ. No, neither very beautiful wife.

In the material world, everyone is trying to possess a beautiful wife, a very good bank balance, and to become leader of many men. So a pure devotee declines. Then what is your desire? Mama janmani janmani śaśvare.

He does not want liberation from birth and death. Because others, they want liberation. So liberation for a devotee is already there. Anyone who is a devotee, he is on the liberated platform.

It is confirmed in the Bhagavad-gītā. “māṁ ca yo ’vyabhicāreṇa bhakti-yogena sevate sa guṇān samatītyaitān brahma-bhūyāya kalpate”. He's already on the liberated platform.

Therefore, a devotee hasn't got to ask for liberation.

Bilvamaṅgala Ṭhākura says, mukti-mukulitāñjali-sevate asmān, if I got my unflinching devotion unto you, then mukti, she is standing at my door with folded hands and she's asking what can she do for me.

So a devotee is not very much anxious for liberation. Because he doesn't want anything. They have devotees called akāma. Akāma. There are many classes of men. So they have been divided into four divisions. Not three divisions.

What are those? Akāma, sakāma and mokṣakāma. Akāma, sakāma and mokṣakāma. Akāma means devotee. He doesn't want anything. He simply wants to serve Krishna without any motive. That is akāma. And sakāma means karmi.

They have no end of demands. Give me this, give me this, give me that. Dehi dehi, dehi dehi, dehi dehi. That is sakāma.

And another person, mokṣa-kāma, being disgusted with this karma, they want to become one with the Supreme. That is called mokṣa-kāma. But everyone is restless except devotees. That is stated in the Caitanya-caritāmṛta.

Bhukti-mukti-siddhi-kāmī sakali aśānta, kṛṣṇa- bhakta niṣkāma, ataeva śānta. So long he will have desire to get something, to possess something, he'll never be peaceful. That is not possible.

Therefore, bhukti-kāmī means karmīs, the jñānīs, siddhi-kāmī, the yogīs, they are all aśānta. They are no śānta. They are not śānta. But kṛṣṇa-bhakta niṣkāma; kṛṣṇa-bhakta doesn't want anything. Therefore he is peaceful.

He can sit down anywhere and chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare, Hare Rāma. And he gets the sublime peaceful life. But people may ask, "Then why don't you sit down at a place and chant Hare Kṛṣṇa?"

Better than that life, for a devotee to preach this Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra. That is better. Because Kṛṣṇa says: na ca tasmān manuṣyeṣu kaścin me priya-kṛttamaḥ. So Kṛṣṇa says, manuṣyāṇāṁ sahasreṣu kaścid yatati siddhaye.

Siddhaye means mukti. Who is lying for mukti? They do not know what is mukti. There is no education in the schools, colleges, and the big, big professors' education. They do not know what is mukti, what is next life.

All in the darkness. And they have become teachers, leaders, philosophers, religionists, scientists. So what will be the condition of the world?

If one blind man leads you, that "I shall cross you this road," I shall help you crossing this road. How he'll do? He is blind. And how he'll lead other blind men? That is the condition. Now.

Therefore, in the Bhagavad-gītā, it is advised, tad viddhi praṇipātena paripraśnena sevayā, upadekṣyanti te jñānaṁ jñāninas tattva-darśinaḥ.

You have to approach a leader who is tattva-darśī, who has seen the absolute truth.

Therefore, because we do not follow generally the tattva-darśī leader, therefore we do not know what is the tattva, what is the truth of Krishna.

Krishna therefore said: manuṣyāṇāṁ sahasreṣu kaścid yatati siddhaye, yatatām api siddhānāṁ kaścin māṁ vetti tattvataḥ. Even one is liberated, Still, it is very difficult for him to understand Krishna.

Yatatām api siddhānāṁ, kaścid, out of many, such siddha, liberated. One is mukta. Mukta, out of many liberated, one is Krishna-bhakta. That is the analysis of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu.

Out of millions of karmīs, one jñānī, one person in knowledge is perfect. And out of millions of jñānīs, one liberated person is perfect. And out of millions of liberated persons, one devotee of Krishna is perfect.

So, to become a devotee of Krishna, to understand Krishna, it is not a very easy job. But Krishna is so kind. He must be kind. His name is Dayālu. Unless He becomes dayālu, how can He live?

Just like He has a little restricted the supply of water, you can see what is the condition. All big, big ministers are hanging signs out: Contribute liberally for the drought board.

And if there is no water, what is your contribution going to do? That key is in the hand of Krishna. Do you think that simply by raising hands you'll be able to bring water? No. Krishna, Adi K...

Not Krishna directly, but Krishna's nature, the material nature, prakṛti. She cannot be bribed. She cannot be bribed. She will punish you. If you do not become Krishna conscious, she will punish you.

Mām eva ye prapadyante māyām etāṁ taranti te. Daivī hy eṣā guṇamayī mama māyā duratyayā. Māyā means this material energy. This material energy is very, very strong.

You cannot control the material energy by your so-called scientific method. This is a schedule. In material nature, you know, you can fly in space, me, just like childish play.

But to control the material nature, it is not possible. You are under the control of the material nature. Daivī hy eṣā guṇamayī mama māyā duratyayā. It is very difficult. Aṁśa-pāśam. Then how it can be done?

Mām eva ye prapadyante māyām etāṁ taranti te.

Social organization and the varnasrama system

Simplify śaraṇāgati. Simplify Krishna consciousness. That is the whole yoga and the Vedic process. How to satisfy Krishna? Vishnu. How to satisfy Vishnu? Viṣṇur ārādhyate puṁsāṁ. puṁsāṁ nānyat tat-toṣa-kāraṇam.

The whole business is yajña, yajñārthāt karma, anyatra karma-bandhanaḥ, if you don't work for yajña, then he will be in entanglement. That's why in our state, we have to satisfy the government.

You cannot do any business, any activity without the sanction of the government. That will be illegal. Similarly, whatever we do, we must do it for satisfaction, Krishna, Ādi-viṣṇu. That is Krishna consciousness movement.

Krishna consciousness movement is not a bogus movement. It is teaching people that you would try to satisfy the Supreme. Yajñārthāt karmaṇo 'nyatra.

As Krishna advised to Arjuna, that because you are in the battlefield, you have to fight. Similarly, we are also in the battlefield of this material war.

Manas-ṣaṣṭhānīndriyāṇi prakṛti-sthāni karṣati, struggle for existence. So that we have to do.

Krishna did not say to his friend Arjuna, "My dear Arjuna, you are my so intimate friend. You don't have to struggle. You have not to fight. Sit down. I shall do." No. You never said that. You have to work.

You have to fight, but you have to remember Krishna. That is life. That is Krishna consciousness. We don't say that you give up your business, you give up your profession. And become a sannyāsī like me. No.

Sannyāsī required, gṛhastha required, Brahmacārī required. vānaprastha required. That is the arrangement. Cātur-varṇyaṁ mayā sṛṣṭam.

Just like in your whole body, he requires the head, he requires the arms, he requires the belly, he requires the legs.

Similarly, cātur-varṇyaṁ human society must be divided into four divisions. The brāhmaṇas, the kṣatriyas, the vaiśyas and the śūdras. Kṛṣṇa said: cātur-varṇyaṁ mayā sṛṣṭaṁ guṇa-karma-vibhāgaśaḥ. This is actually planning.

Not planning, the bogus planning and simply levy taxes and it not that planning, this is planning, Krishna's planning, you take Krishna's planning, the intelligent class must be educated as brāhmaṇas.

Śamo damas tapaḥ śaucaṁ kṣāntir ārjavam eva ca, jñānaṁ vijñānam āstikyaṁ brahma-karma svabhāva-jam. The intelligent class should be trained up in schools in gurukula as brāhmaṇas.

The next intelligent class, they should be trained now as kṣatriyas as administrators. Not anyone coming from a śūdra quality man and because if somehow he gets votes and he becomes the chief man. What he will do?

He's a śūdra. He cannot do administration properly. There must be kṣatriya training. Kṣatriya must be very strong, not to fear in fighting, must be prepared to rule. There are so many such qualifications.

Everything is there in the Bhagavad-gītā. Who is following? But everyone is saying, I am a student of Bhagavad-gītā. My photograph is of Bhagavad-gītā. What is this? Therefore, to understand Krishna means to know everything.

But Krishna is everything. So unless you know scientifically things as they are, how will you be happy? Simply jumping like monkey will make you happy.

Monkey is very busy. Always busy. Whenever you sit down, you care for something. That kind of jumping will not help you. Be sober. Be a brāhmaṇa. Take advice from the brāhmaṇa.

And be a kṣatriya, really strong to fight the enemy. Not that the king is sitting in his palace smoking and some poor men are fighting. No. At the Battle of Kurukṣetra, Arjuna is in it.

The other side, Bhīṣma is in it, fighting. The leader must be on the front, the head of the state. That is fighting. Poor men will fight and they will give simply in a snapshot and enjoy.

Because they are śūdras, they do not know how to fight. There is a problem in America. They're not getting any person to be ready to fight.

Because people have been trained now as śūdras and caṇḍālas, how will they be prepared to fight? Still in India, there are kṣatriya families. They are very much enthusiastic to fight. By forcing, you cannot make one fight.

He must be very straightforward, strong. And that is kṣatriya. And similarly, productive class, there must be four. Kṛṣi-go-rakṣya-vāṇijyaṁ vaiśya-karma svabhāva-jam. Vaiśyas, they're not meant for starting big business.

Kṛṣi, agriculture. Go-rakṣya. Now, cows are being slaughtered. And big business means for America. And big business here. Big, big cloth things. This is that.

Therefore, there is no brāhmaṇa, no kṣatriya, no vaiśya, simply śūdras. Kalau śūdra-sambhavaḥ. Kalau śūdra-sambhavaḥ. Therefore there is chaos, there is catastrophe. So immediately there is need of clear-headed brāhmaṇas.

Not by birth, but by quality. Śamo damaḥ titikṣā ārjavaḥ, Like that. So this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is meant for creating a pure class of brāhmaṇas so that people may take help from them.

They can give you instructions: how to construct society, how to conduct politics, how to conduct religion. It would follow them. Just like brain. Mukha-bāhūru-pādebhyah...

It is stated in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam: mukha-bāhūru-pādebhyaḥ puruṣasyāśramaiḥ saha catvāro jajñire varṇā guṇair viprādayaḥ pṛthak.

The society, you see, the whole cosmic manifestation as the virāṭa-rūpa, the gigantic body of God. And in that gigantic body, the brāhmaṇas are to be considered as the mukha, the mouth.

Therefore, according to the Vedic civilization, the qualified brāhmaṇas are invited to take food, brāhmaṇa-bhoja. In the Vedic literature you all find poor-feeding. Poor-feeding is there, that is secondary.

But brāhmaṇa-bhoja. Because brāhmaṇa is considered to be the mouth of the Supreme. So when the brāhmaṇas will take food, it will be recognized. Jagdha, jagdati, jagdati karman natra rubavukanva mandala.

So everything is scientifically arranged, and it is described everything in the Bhagavad-gītā. Unfortunately, we do not take advantage of it. We are planning our own way. How you can be perfect. The perfect plan is crying.

Please take help from me. But no, we are not prepared to take help from. We have made our own plan and therefore we are suffering. So it is a very serious condition.

So we invite, therefore, all intelligent class of men, those who are serious about making improvement in the social structure, in the political structure, they should consult this Bhagavad-gītā. Everything will be smooth.

Everything. We can challenge. If you take advantage of this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement, the whole face of the world will change. Viśvaṁ pūrṇaṁ sukhāyate. The whole world will be happy. There is a program.

And the program is very simple. That is also stated in the Bhagavad-gītā. «suhṛdaṁ sarva-bhūtānāṁ jñātvā māṁ śāntim ṛcchati».

Divine ownership and the cycle of sacrifice

Realize that Kṛṣṇa is God. Everything belongs to God. Unfortunately, we are claiming this land is mine, Hindustan, this land is Pakistan, this land is America. Where from you got it? Everything belongs to Krishna.

Sarva Loka Mahasra. If we accept this principle, then where is the fight? We are all sons of Krishna. And it is Krishna's land. We can live peacefully. Krishna, God is our father. Everything belongs to God.

There is a supply of food. Everything is. Pūrṇasya pūrṇam ādāya, pūrṇam evāvaśiṣyate. Pūrṇāt pūrṇam udacyate.

Everything is perfectly, I have several times told you, in this planet, still there are so many vacant lands in their properly utilized. We can feed ten times population as at present. Ten times.

And there is a scarcity of food. Why scarcity of food? Due to our mismanagement. We are concentrating this is my land, this is my land, this is why. Everything is not there. And cultivate it nicely.

Give protection to the cows. Take enough milk. Make milk production. Produce fruits and vegetables. Huge quantity. Very scarcity. And there will be no scarcity of rain. Yajñād bhavati parjanyaḥ.

The whole cycle is that you have to perform yajna. When you perform yajna, then regular rain will be there.

And as soon as there is regular rain, then you can produce food and as soon as the food is produced you eat, you become strong, the animals become strong, then again take ghee and again yajna—this is the cycle.

This is the cycle. Now we are scientists. We take out this yajna. We shall manufacture water. We shall manufacture rice. Go on, rice. They are all nonsense. Therefore, Krishna says, one has to understand Krishna.

To understand Krishna means to understand everything. Is Krishna everything? Let's try: yesterday I told you to water the root, that means watering the whole tree.

So if you understand Krishna, that is also said in the Vedas, just mean: yasmin vijñāte sarvam evaṁ vijñātaṁ bhavati. If you simply understand Krishna, the Absolute Truth, then other things become automatically understood.

Yasmin vijñāte sarvam evaṁ vijñātaṁ bhavati. So simply try to understand Krishna and everything will be clear. Clear concept. Everybody will be nice.

Just yasyāsti bhaktir bhagavaty akiñcanā. sarvair guṇais tatra samāsate surāḥ. If one becomes a devotee. Just like these devotees from America and

England, you know, everyone knows they were meat-eaters, they were woman-hunters or drunkards, everything. But as soon as they have become devotees of Krishna, they have given it up.

Sarvair guṇais tatra samāsate surāḥ; they are now humble, they are chanting Hare Krishna, they are tolerating so many insults, they are propagating Krishna consciousness, boy. Sarvai guṇais tatra samāsate surāḥ.

All good qualities have developed. By law, legislation, now in Western countries there is regular advertisement on the cigarette box that it is not good for health. What is that? Smoking cigarettes may be harmful to health.

Smoking is harmful to your health. It is now law there that every cigarette manufacturer must print this on the cigarette pack.

But they cannot give up cigarettes. The government is trying to give up the cigarette or intoxication. How can they do it? It is not possible. Because they are not Krishna bhaktas.

And as soon as one becomes a Krishna bhakta, he kicks out all the cigarettes and smoking and drinking and everything. Yasyāsti bhaktir bhagavati akiñcanā sarvair guṇais tatra samāsate surāḥ. This is a fact.

And harer abhaktasya kuto mahad-guṇāḥ, and one who is not a devotee, he cannot have any good qualities. It is not possible.

And some of our students went to see one big svāmī in New York, I do not wish to name, he was mocking. The svāmī was smoking.

And these two students said, "So you have little as said. Svāmī is smoking, svāmī is drinking, svāmī is keeping private secretary over." And he's still going on, "Svāmī." Svāmī means master.

He cannot control his tongue from smoking. As soon as there is some sensation, he requires a cigarette. And he has become a svāmī. This is going on. Svāmī means master, controller. Because tapasvī is controlling.

But if you cannot control, if you are your servant, svāmī, the opposite word is bhṛtya or servant. Svāmī means master and bhṛtya means servant.

See, if you are bhṛtya or cigarette and drinking tea, how you have become svāmī? But nobody caught. This is going on. Why? There is no Kṛṣṇa-kāṁsya. There is no Kṛṣṇa-bhakti. Harāv abhaktasya kuto mahad-guṇā.

If one is not Kṛṣṇa-kāṁsya, he is rākṣasa-māyā-vṛta. This is our test.

Overcoming ignorance through Vedic knowledge

I do not say, he will find in this Bhagavad-gītā. It is said: na māṁ duṣkṛtino mūḍhāḥ prapadyante narādhamāḥ, māyayāpahṛta-jñānā āsuraṁ bhāvam āśritāḥ. So our test is little. Whether he has surrendered to Kṛṣṇa.

If he is not, then we keep him in these four groups. What are these? Na māṁ duṣkṛtino mūḍhāḥ prapadyante narādhamāḥ, māyayāpahṛta-jñānāḥ. It is not our statement.

It is a statement of Kṛṣṇa in Bhagavad-gītā and we are preaching Bhagavad-gītā. See, this is our test. We have to see whether he is a Kṛṣṇa-conscious person. He is a devotee of Kṛṣṇa. If he is, so welcome, you are my master.

Otherwise you must be within these four groups. What are these? Duṣkṛtinaḥ, Always sinful, mūḍha, narādhama, māyayāpahṛta-jñāna. the duṣkṛtina, and māyayāpahṛta-jñāna.

And you may say that you passed this M.A. examination, D.Sc. examination, but māyā has taken away all your knowledge. Māyayāpahṛta-jñāna. Why? Āsuraṁ bhāvam āśritāḥ. Because your determination is no good.

Only this determination will keep you within this four group. Actually it is the fact. And one who becomes a devotee of Krishna, then all good qualities will find in him. That is the fact.

Yasyāsti bhaktir bhagavaty akiñcanā, sarvair guṇais tatra samāsate surāḥ. Therefore it is very difficult to know Krishna; Krishna says, manuṣyāṇām.

manuṣyāṇāṁ sahasreṣu kaścid yatati siddhaye / yatatām api siddhānāṁ kaścin māṁ vetti tattvataḥ. We have to understand Krishna. In truth, not superficially; Krishna took His birth as the son of Devakī. That is also right.

But still you have to know. That also somebody says, but there is no Krishna, it is all filthy stuff. Big, big men, they say. In the history, they say, in the history of Kurukṣetra, Kurukṣetra is still existing.

Somebody will say there was no Kurukṣetra battle. Somebody will say it is all imagination. Some big scholar has said this Bhagavad-gītā is simply mental speculation.

So, it is a pity of the situation that we have got such treasure house of knowledge, and spoken by the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

You are neglecting this thing and you are trying to get help from others to improve our position. Bhikhā māge bore kāṭe. Bhikhā māge bore. Āpana dhana bilāiyā.

They are kicked out their own treasure house and they are now begging from others. This is not helping. They will try to understand Krishna. Although it is very difficult.

But Krishna is giving in a standard way personally how to understand. Therefore, in the next verse, He says: bhūmir āpo 'nalo vāyuḥ khaṃ mano buddhir eva ca, eva ca ahaṅkāra itīyaṁ me bhinnā prakṛtir aṣṭadhā".

So bhūmi, bhūmi means land, āpa means water. Bhūmir āpo 'nalo vāyuḥ. Bhūmir āpo 'nalo vāyuḥ. Yeah. The five elements. Then ahaṅkāra, egoism, then mind, intelligence,

Krishna says these eight elements, they are material, they are my separated element, my energy. That is also Krishna. You cannot claim the bhūmi, the land, yours. It is Krishna. Have you manufactured this land?

Have you manufactured this sea? Why to claim it is yours? Somebody has manufactured. And that information is here. It is Krishna also. So why are you claiming Krishna's property as your property?

If you simply understand this, a small fact that I am claiming it is my country, it is my land, it is my water, none of these belongs to you; you cannot create. You have come as a guest from the home of your mother.

You have been given a seat to stay here for some days. How can you claim that it is your property? How can you claim? What is the reason? If we simply understand this bare fact of life,

Bhūmir āpo 'nalo vāyuḥ khaṁ mano buddhir eva ca. Actually, have I created this world? Somebody must have created.

If you say it is nature, no, nature is dull, nature cannot work; there must be some worker, matter, material, everything. Suppose a big machine, material machine. If there is no worker, how can it work?

There is no such instance. Krishna says in the Bhagavad-gītā, mayādhyakṣeṇa prakṛtiḥ.

Worshiping the deity with love

So we have to study Krishna because we cannot see Krishna now.

Although Krishna is present everywhere. One who has got love for Krishna, premāñjana-cchurita-bhakti-vilocanena santaḥ sadaiva hṛdayeṣu vilokayanti— One who has got love for Krishna, he sees Krishna here, the deity, just like Caitanya Mahāprabhu.

As soon as he saw the deity of Jagannātha, he immediately fainted. Here is my Lord. And was no love for Krishna? Oh, these people are worshipping a stone. He did that? He'll see stone.

And who is seeing a stone, Krishna remains a stone. And when he sees, here is my Krishna, he answers his question. So it requires training. To just try to, because we have our dull brain, we cannot see subtle things.

We see only wood and stone. Therefore, Krishna has kindly taken the form of these stone. Just to show yourself, here. Take advantage of that. But Krishna is also stone. He says, bhūmi. Stone is bhūmi.

So why he should not appear as stone? Because you cannot see except stone. Therefore, Krishna appears as stone. For your facility. But don't neglect. This is the beginning.

Kaniṣṭha-adhikārī arcāyām eva haraye pūjāṁ śraddhayehate, if you establish Krishna's mūrti at home and follow as these devotees are following, what is the wrong there? What is the harm there?

Krishna can occupy a small place in your home, becoming a small deity. It will do no expenditure. If you establish the deity of Krishna and of Rādhā and chant Hare Krishna. What is the harm there?

Why don't you take up this Krishna consciousness movement? Is it a very expensive thing? But if you can't take up this line of action, sevā-unmukhe hi jihvādau svayam eva sphuraty adaḥ, this, this, this service attitude.

Here is Krishna. He has kindly come at home. I am a poor man. I cannot decorate the virāṭ-rūpa. Therefore, Krishna has become four inches. He can become aṇor aṇīyān mahato mahīyān.

He can become bigger than the biggest and smaller than the smallest.

So you are small, we accept the small, purchase a small quantity of cloth, make dress, decorate Krishna, it is not expensive, and patraṁ puṣpaṁ phalaṁ toyaṁ if you are a poor man, if you cannot offer Krishna anything, or like a little leaf, a little flower, a little water, Krishna says, tad ahaṁ aśnāmi, I will eat it.

And if Krishna eats from your hand, your life becomes successful. Why don't you take this? So, uh, Krishna consciousness movement is very nice.

I shall request everyone to take this movement very seriously, especially in India, the land of God, the land of Krishna. Don't try to neglect it. Thank you very much.
