Innumerable expansions of Krishna

Prabhupāda: Rāmādi-mūrtiṣu. Kṛṣṇa has got innumerable expansion.

Vishnu tattva and jiva tattva

Some of Them are called viṣṇu-tattva, and some of them are called jīva-tattva. He has got innumerable expansions. The viṣṇu-tattva expansion, They are as good as Kṛṣṇa.

Humanity as expansions of Manu

But jīva-tattva we are jīva-tattva, we are also expansions of Kṛṣṇa, just like the whole human race is expansion of some forefather, Manu. From manu, man. This is also Sanskrit. Manu, man.

In Sanskrit, manuṣya, man. So similarly, the original father, original progenitor, is Kṛṣṇa; and from His expansion there are innumerable.

Personal and separated expansions

Some of them are called svāṁśa. Svāṁśa means personal expansion. And some of them are vibhināṁśa, separated expansions. We are separated expansions, but we are also Kṛṣṇa's expansions.

Eternal existence of incarnations

So Kṛṣṇa appears, rāmādi-mūrtiṣu, as Lord Rāmacandra, as Varāha, as Kūrma, as Nṛsiṁhadeva, as Matsya—so many. Rāmādi-mūrtiṣu kalā-niyamena tiṣṭhan. So He is always existing with so many expansions.

None of the expansions are at any time vanquished, they are existing always. We are also existing. After this body also we shall continue to exist.

Krishna as the supreme person

Kṛṣṇa svayaṁ samabhavat paramaḥ pumān yo. But Kṛṣṇa, when He appears, He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi. So kṛṣṇas tu bhagavān svayam SB 1.3.28.

List of incarnations in Bhagavatam

In the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, there is list of incarnations. You should read all this, in the Third Chapter, First Volume.

And when Kṛṣṇa's name is there, it is said, kṛṣṇas tu bhagavan svayam. Ete camsa kala pumsam kṛṣṇas tu bhagavam svayam. All this list of names, they are expansions of Kṛṣṇa.

Krishna as the original Lord

But this name, "Kṛṣṇa," He is the original Supreme Personality of Godhead. That is the meaning of govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi: "I worship Govinda, the primeval Lord." Hmm. [end]
