After it in Krishna consciousness or acting for the benefit of Krishna without expectation of sense gratification is the highest transcendental quality of work. Even a small beginning of such activity finds no impediment.
Nor can that small beginning be lost at any stage. Any work begun on the material plane has to be completed. Otherwise the whole attempt becomes a failure.
But any work began in Krishna consciousness has a permanent effect even though not finished. The performer of such work is therefore not at lost, even if his work in Krishna consciousness is incomplete.
One pres dunno Krishna consciousness builds permanent results so that the next beginning is from the point of 2%. Whereas in material activity without 100% success, there is no profit.
Ajamila performed his duty in some percentage of Krishna consciousness, but the result he enjoyed in the end was a hundred percent by the grace of the Lord. There is a nice verse in this connection with Shima Bhagavatam.
If someone gives up his occupational duties and works in Krishna consciousness and then falls down on account of not completing his work, what loss is there on his part? And what can one gain if one performs his material activities perfectly?
Or, as the Christians say, what profit a man, what profit it a man if he gains the whole world yet suffers the loss of his internal soul.
Material activities and their results end with the body. But the work in Krishna consciousness carries a person again to Krishna consciousness even after the loss of the body.
At least one is sure to have a chance in the next life to begin to be born again as a human being, either in a family of a great cultured brahmana or in a rich aristocratic family that will give one further chance for revelation. That is the unique quality of work done in Krishna consciousness.
Overview of intelligence and soul realization
Sri Prabhupada? Perfect verse for today's discussion. This second part of the second chapter of Bhagavad-gītā is a description of Buddhi Yoga. In the beginning, Krishna explains the theory.
He explains that the soul is eternal, that nothing can happen to the soul. The soul is an atom.
And and uh, an atom by definition is undividable. It's a spiritual atom, so you cannot cut it, you cannot burn it, no weapon belonging or pertaining to certain Mahabuddhas can deal with this because it's completely beyond the scope of material energy.
So he establishes this fact, but in the second part of this chapter, he tries to explain how to realize this process, how to realize these truths. Because it's not enough to know this theoretically.
You may know I'm eternal soul, but I'm still attached to the body. You know, theoretically you know, I am eternal soul, but and you look in the mirror, you forget about this. You look in the mirror and you are in the body.
Who else you are? No, that's you, right? That's me.
So what Krishna explains in the second part of the second chapter of Bhagavad Gita, he explains the process by which you will be able to get the realization of this fact that you know this body.
They are very much attached to the body. This is our strong attachment. The body is a nice thing, especially when it's young. When it's not so young, it's not so nice. And the older it is, the more miserable it is.
But when you're young, you know I remember when I was young. It's it's a very nice thing. Usually very proud. You have this strong body and everything works and you look in the mirror and it looks nice.
And you feel like you're conquering the world. But uh uh you know when it gets older you get more more miserable, but still you're attached.
The amazing thing is that even though the body becomes dysfunctional, people still attach to the body. People attach to the very last moment to the body. They still always have the hope.
I remember my grandfather, he became really old, 80 plus, and he was really sick. And he was always saying, I will get better soon. Everyone else knew that he will never get better.
How you can get better if you are more than 80? It can only go worse. But you know, people are attached, very much attached.
So even if you have the theoretical knowledge, I'm not the body, it's very difficult to realize because that's too much attached to this body. It's just it's me, it's me.
And we always get nice things through the body, nice enjoyment, you know, senses are enjoyed. It's nice.
Overcoming bodily attachments through buddhi yoga
So, Krishna in the second part of the second chapter he starts explaining that you should perform your activities in a certain way, in a certain consciousness. And this consciousness will gradually change your perception.
Because ultimately this understanding that I am this body is a concept. It's a very strong concept. But it's a concept. It's a concept which is deeply ingrained in our consciousness.
From the very childhood we are used to it and you know everything which is there in the material world impresses upon us this fact. You're this body, you are this body, you are this body, you have to take care of this body.
So Krishna gives a complete program. He explains the program of what you are supposed to do, in which consciousness you are supposed to act, so that gradually this concept is weakened.
What is happening in the material world, everything which we do is more or less fortifies this concept.
You see, you watch the TV, you eat, whatever is there, everything is just grossly on in most subtle way tells you you are this body enjoy this body enjoy this body enjoy this body
so Krishna is explaining to us what how should we live so that we will ultimately weaken and in the ultimate sense destroy this concept and this body. And he calls this buddhi yoga or yoga of intelligence, literally speaking. And Prabhupada translates Buddha yoga as bhakti yoga.
He says that ultimately what you should do is you should connect whatever you have and whatever you do with the supreme Intelligence. Yukta Asina Mattara. What Krishna is explaining is very interesting.
Sometimes people say that Krishna is explaining karma yoga. But nowhere, please remember this, because it's a very important fact, nowhere in Bhagavad-gītā Krishna explains karma yoga. In a pure sense.
Everywhere in Bhagavad-gītā Krishna is explaining bhakti yoga. It may be karma misra bhakti yoga. Bhakti yoga mixed with karma, with the concept of karma, but nowhere he explains pure karma yoga.
He only explains because in the very beginning, in the seventh chapter, he said, yukta āsīta mat-paraḥ. Just you know connect your consciousness with me and act in this consciousness.
And in this way, uh do whatever you do in this connection. And Śrīla Prabhupāda explains, this is Krishna consciousness. Yukta Asina Matparaha. Just make this mental connection that you're dependent on me.
When we are used to this concept, I'm independent, I'm on my own. You know, I have to do whatever I like. So Krishna says from the very beginning, make this connection. You're dependent. You're never independent. Forget it.
This is illusion. You are never independent. You're always dependent on God.
and it is basically the very beginning of teaching of Bhagavad-gītā and it goes through the whole Bhagavad-gītā and ultimately it culminates in the last verse of Bhagavad-gītā, Man-manā bhava mad-bhakto mad-yājī mām namaskuru.
So from the very first thing till the very last thing, Krishna is speaking about one thing. You have to connect. You have to understand that you are part of me. You're never independent. We are used to, uh,
we have this illusory understanding that we are on our own, but Krishna is explaining, just make this connection, work in this consciousness, then gradually, gradually you will get the real picture. Gradually, gradually you will understand what is going on, why it is going on, who you are, and what is your relationship with me.
So and here in this particular verse, we are coming to this particular verse, he praises this process and he says on this past there is no loss and there is no delay.
Mechanics of karmic impressions in consciousness
Nehabhikam Let's try to understand what he wants to say. It's very important for us to understand very important. When we act in this world, any action which we do leaves a subtle impression in our consciousness.
And what we are is more or less some total of these impressions. If you take karma, if you take your astrological chart, what is astrological chart?
Astrological chart is just more or less symbolic explanation of karmas which you did in your past lives, which are activated now.
And all these saṁskāras which are there in your consciousness, you know they are creating your mind, your personality, everything which is there and ultimately that's what we are because we are our mind.
The very word man comes from mind. We are our mind. And our mind is a sum total of the impressions of our activities which we did.
We want to do something, we want to enjoy something, if we die in something, it gives an impression, we do, oh, this is good, this is cool. American expression, oh this is cool. So all these cool things are stored here.
And you go for the cool things. I like cool things. And then of course there are not so cool things which are also there. And uh this is called karma. And it's totally useless.
You know you do some cool thing and you it leaves an impression and you want to repeat it and repeat it and repeat it again and the impression becomes stronger and stronger and stronger. So there is an interesting cycle.
It's a very important thing to understand how it works. You make your action, and the motivation for the action, I want to be happy. Right?
Whatever you do, there's only two motivations which we have. One motivation is I want to be happy, and another motivation I want to avoid miseries. There's only two motivations.
Either we do something to get some pleasure, or we do something to avoid some miseries. Ultimately, that it is. And that leaves an impression in us.
Then all these impressions, or saṁskāras which are stored there, they more or less clustered in our consciousness and they create vasanas. It's a term in yoga. Vasanas are a very strong saṁskāra which are activated.
Very strong vasanas. And the strong vasanas they create ultimately they create patterns of thought in us and patterns of thought in us or desires create karma. It's a cycle.
You do some activity, it leaves an impression, impression create makes a strong impression, strong impression creates some kind of you know thinking process and thinking process creates desire, desire creates karma.
And it goes on and on and on. It's a cycle. So what Krishna says here, look what he says.
He says that if you start doing something in a different consciousness by connecting yourself with me it will ultimately completely change your mind.
Ultimately it will create a completely different impression or gives you completely different experience. Karma is an experience cycle.
We want to enjoy, we get enjoyment, and we want to repeat this enjoyment and it goes on in cycles.
But Krishna says if you start doing something remembering about me, then it will give you experience which will ultimately eradicate all the experience which you had before.
What Krishna is saying here that saṁskāra which you get from the spiritual experience by connecting yourself with Krishna will ultimately undo all other saṁskāras. And this is how the change of consciousness takes place.
And Prabhupada explains here that this saṁskāra is very powerful. The saṁskāra which which which is there in our in our consciousness, some of them are powerful, some of them are less powerful.
Krishna says there is the most powerful, how you say it, undestroyable, undestructible saṁskāra, which comes from the spiritual experience. And this saṁskāra will always be with you.
And this is in a much more let me finish. Repeat. Okay.
Eradicating material habits with spiritual experience
It is explained in Yoga Sutra of Patanjali. It's uh I'm I'm dealing now with the yogic explanation of what Krishna is saying here.
What we have, we have in our mind different samskaras, different impressions, different memories. Some memories are nice, some memories are not so nice.
Like in the childhood, if you had some unpleasant experience, then you may get very strong fear. Why? Because some saṁskāra which is there in the childhood will be very strong.
Why in the Hindu tradition in the childhood they do different rituals, some saṁskāras. Basically, to make a positive impression in your mind. Make you healthy human being. Make your mind protected.
Like if some child was abused, I welcome to this point. If the child was abused, uh he will have he may forget completely. I know one experience one one girl she was abused, sexually abused when she was a girl.
She completely forgot about this. Totally. This is a mechanism in the mind. She forgot about this, but still the very unpleasant impression is there and there are so many different psychological problems which it creates.
So we're dealing with different saṁskāras, and this is material saṁskāras.
What Krishna is saying here, Krishna is saying here that if you start doing some spiritual activities, it will create a completely different types of impression in your mind.
And ultimately, this impression which is created by spiritual activities will eradicate all other impressions which are there, undo all other impressions, destroy all other impressions. Śrīla Prabhupāda explains this.
He says that even if you did little bit in a spiritual practice, it will have a lasting effect in your consciousness, it will never go away from your consciousness.
Even if you forget about it, if you gave it up, it will still be there, it will be lingering, and next lifetime you will start from the same point where you gave up on the previous.
In yoga terms, there is a special saṁskāra which is called spiritual saṁskāra and the spiritual saṁskāra overshadows all the material experience. All our problems in this world is because we have these habits, saṁskāras.
And you know it it makes us it makes us a slave. There are a bunch of habits. Like we all know, they have habits. They want to sleep till 10 o'clock in the morning.
Or you know, there are different habits, so we want to watch there's no TV here. Not there's TV. We create a habit and habit is a strong saṁskāra, and then we become a slave of this habit.
You know we work to create the habits and then we work to maintain these habits. We become the slave of our habits. What is the life?
The life is just basically, you know, more or less doing the same thing again and again and again. And that's a very strong bondage. That's a slavery.
There is a nice verse which is said that I became a slave of my of my lust, of sex desire. People become so much enslaved in this they cannot get out of this.
You know, they go on the internet and they watch it and it's just, you know, it's so it's it's it's such a horrible thing, you know. You want to get rid of it, you cannot get rid of it.
Or if people become addicted to some drug, they become slave with it. They destroy their whole life. And this whole material existence is more or less addiction to different kinds of things.
People become slaves of meat eating. Some people cannot break this habit. They just become so addicted to this that they, you know, they waste their whole life just to work for their addictions.
Somebody waste life for the sex addiction, somebody waste his life for the meat-eating addiction, somebody waste his life without addiction.
So what Krishna is saying here, there is a very powerful spiritual addiction which can free you from all other addictions.
This is Hare Krṣṇa Mahā-mantra. Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare, Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare.
But Krishna is saying here, he' saysing very interesting thing he says that that if you start this it will make an impression which will ultimately completely change the whole structure of your consciousness.
It completely spiritualizes your consciousness and free you from this material attachments and you will get something really impressive.
Psychological drives for sex and meaning
I will go a little back. In the 20th century, and of 19th century. The science of psychology has been developed. And the father of this psychological science was Sigmund Freud.
One friend of mine calls him sick mind Freud because he had some mental sickness.
So and Sigmund Freud, by studying film psychology, he said that the strongest addiction, the strongest bondage in this material world is sex. And he was trying to explain that whatever we do in this life is ultimately dictated by this
sex urge or sex drive. He explained the whole, he basically created the whole psychological theory that the strongest impetus in us is to have enjoyment of the sex.
And you know, he was very successful in explaining certain phenomena and everything else. So, listen, it's very important for us to understand. So, after him came his disciple.
His disciple was Adler, and he created a completely different school of psychology. And he said, no, my teacher, my guru was wrong. It's best in parampara. Every type was trying to be better than his guru.
And he said Sigmund Freud was wrong or he was partially correct. Sex drive is very powerful, but there is more powerful drive than the human psyche. This is the drive for power, for power.
He was trying to explain that whatever human beings do, they do because of fear. And because there is very strong subconscious fear in a human being, they want to get higher and higher, higher up to protect themselves.
Why people get money. Sigmund Freud would say they get money because this is a sex desire. So this Adler said no, they want to get money because the money gives them protection. Power. The strife for power is more powerful.
People can even give up the sex desire if they get to the top. There were very strong dictators who were, you know, intoxicated by this sense of power and so powerful. Actually, this was not invented by Freud or Adler.
Krishna says that in Bhagavad-gītā. Krishna says īśvaro 'ham ahaṁ bhogī. That there are two impetus or two drives in a human being: the drive to enjoy, and ultimate enjoyment in this material world is sex-enjoyment.
Or drive to power, īśvara. I want to be Ishwara. I want to have power. I want to say that, you know, do whatever I like. And they are very much connected. So what happened next?
Listen. This is even more important than what I said before. There was a third one from the same school of psychology. His name was Viktor Frankl and he was also a disciple of Sigmund Freud.
And he said, both Freud and Adler... And he said there is much more powerful drive in every human being. Much more powerful, much more powerful psychological impetus or psychological need.
He said more powerful psychological need than even the fear and even the sex is the desire to have meaning in life.
And he says, human beings uh who may be fulfilled in uh their physical needs or in their enjoyment needs, and human beings who reach there, they still will feel some craving inside themselves. And this is the craving to get meaning in life. What for I am living?
So these three things, these three schools, these three powerful psychological schools, they explain, and they're all right in their sense. So they explain the human life. Yes, we need enjoyment.
There is a need for enjoyment. Yes, there is a need to feel powerful or to feel that you know I can, I'm īśvara. We all know, we're all little gods, we're all little Krishna. We all try to imitate Krishna.
You know, somebody, you know, Krishna in a country, somebody Krishna in a little flat, you know, and he has Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī in the kitchen.
Attaining lasting fulfillment through spiritual taste
But uh but there is another uh another impetus in us, which is ultimately stronger. What is the meaning in my life? For what I am living. And this is exactly what Krishna is saying in this verse.
He says, when you get when you practice this, connecting your consciousness with Krishna and doing everything for him, Mentally, making this mental adjustment, I am doing everything for him because I am part of him.
This is my natural position, this is my nature, this is my Dharma. I am a part of him, part is supposed to serve the whole. Part only has the meaning when it is connected with the whole.
When we have this, this will create much stronger impression in our consciousness. And this impression will never be destroyed. Why this sexual impulse is so strong in us?
Because it leaves a very strong impression, strong saṁskāras, and these strong saṁskāras push us and push us and push us in this direction.
But what Krishna says: if you get this experience, real experience, I am doing it not for myself, I am doing it for Krishna. You will get pleasure which is much higher than the pleasure of sex.
You will get the real experience of love. Your life will become completely transformed because you will feel that whatever you're doing has deep eternal meaning.
And this understanding that whatever I'm doing has a deep eternal meaning will give you completely overwhelming experience of love which ultimately will solve all your other problems.
And this is what Krishna consciousness is all about. Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī says that uh Krishna Krishna will say this also, that he will say uh that what is this verse?
He will say, Raso vai saḥ raso hy evāyam. Raso vai saḥ raso hy evāyam. He will say that that you have a taste. And this taste is driving you. We are all, as Prabhupada says, we're all pleasure-seeking entities, right?
We are just just, you know, we vote pleasure. And you try to you try to withdraw your senses, you try to, you know, for spiritual practices people are trying to, you know, try to not uh too much exercise their senses.
But Krishna says even though you try to withdraw this, the taste still remains. Like sometimes people fast. Did you try to fast?
You fast for one day and just some people fast for two days, three days, five days, six days, 40 days. But the problem is that pace inside remains.
You try to fast, you try to weaken your senses, but still the taste inside becomes more and more powerful. I know one person.
He didn't eat sweets, he gave a vow, he didn't eat sweets for 20 years. He just didn't take it, he was a yogi, no problem. I'm a yogi. I didn't eat sweets once.
He went to Vrajabhūmi sweet shop. And the smell of the sweets was so strong, it activated all the previous some scars inside that he just started eating it without paying money, he couldn't stop eating.
He was just eating and eating and eating. For 20 years the taste for sweets remained in his consciousness. And it was becoming more and more strong.
And ultimately, after 20 years, he says, let make up. And finally, after 20 years of fighting, I can eat sweet. And he ate, you know, he was he was almost dead.
So what Krishna is saying here that if you get this experience, real experience of working for Krishna in love,
that it will give you such a lasting impression in your consciousness that you will forget about everything else. The taste will be completely driven away, lower taste will be completely away, driven away.
Because you will get the higher taste. Once, Prabhupada, he was no, Prabhupada was preaching to hippies and hippies were you know they were after high, you know, the experience of high.
They were taking heroin and all other heavy drugs. And Prabhupada, to explain them what is Krishna consciousness, he says.
Krishna consciousness, usually people take a little bit of heroin and they get some completely, you know. And Prabhupada said that Krishna consciousness is just imagine this room full of heroin.
This is Krishna consciousness. For me it doesn't make any sense because I never took heroin.
For those who have experience of this drug, Prabhupada was trying to explain to them what is the real experience of Krishna consciousness.
It gives you the pleasure which is so much superior to any other pleasures, then you don't want anything else.
You just only want to be with Krishna, you want to love Krishna, you want to serve Krishna, you want to do something with Krishna.
And once, many times actually, Prabhupada was challenged, some drug addicts would come to his lectures and they would say, you know, what are you preaching about? Did you ever try heroin?
He's sitting there, old Swamiji from Bengal, who never tried meat in his life. And all these hippies, you know, you don't know it. You don't know the real meaning of life.
You know, just take little heroin and then we will see. And Prabhupada said, no, I don't know what is heroin.
Permanent protection from minimal devotional progress
But my, my disciples, they tried it and they gave it up and it's a proof it's a proof that ultimately if you get this experience if it's a big if it's not that easy. But Krishna says that even a little experience of this will save you from the most dangerous fear.
He says, mahato bhayat, you will never degrade your consciousness. What happens with all other experiences which we have, all other experiences which we have, degrade our consciousness. Put it down.
You know, our consciousness becomes more and more and more and more into the lower modes, tamastic, tamas and rajas.
But Krishna conscious experience is such that even in the moment of death, it saves you and it will not degrade you. You get a little bit of this experience. Little bit.
And even if after some time you will forget about this, actually you will never be able to forget about this.
There is a nice story about one disciple of Prabhupāda, and he decided to leave Krishna processes. He just decided to give it up.
You know, I cannot do it, it's too difficult, you know, I have to follow all these rules. And he was trying to forget about Krishna, but he couldn't, you know, everything reminded him about Krishna.
You know, he would go somewhere and somebody would approach him and, you know, he would see Hare Nāma and people were chanting Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna.
Or he would, you know, he just didn't know, he wanted to forget about Krishna so he decided to go to Alaska. Alaska is a state in the United States far in the north, you know, where only white bears live.
So he went to Alaska, and he, uh, you know, he, he, he came from the plane.
So the first person whom he met in the airport was a devotee who approached him and gave him Bhagavad-gītā. He he was he was so desperate, he was so angry. He said, get out of here. I don't want.
So he went to hotel. To a hotel room. He locked himself in the hotel room and he said, okay, now I'm alone. I will forget about Krishna.
Let me watch TV, because TV is a very good thing to forget about Krishna. He turned on TV, and the first thing which he saw on the TV was Hare Nāma chanting, Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna. So he just couldn't do it.
Krishna didn't leave him. So what happens when we let Krishna in? Krishna stays inside. He sticks inside. And he ultimately gives us such a experience that we will never forget.
There was another very nice thing, you know, and there was one devotee in England. It's a real story. A real story.
He was a he was also devoted, but then he decided to give up everything because it was too difficult for him.
He lived in a temple for some time and then he decided to go back to his habits and he was a fisherman before. He liked fishing. That's favorite pastimes among some people in the West.
So and when people leave they usually go back to their habits wherever they were before.
So he went fishing at one point and he was fishing and at one point his fishing rod and I was really stuck and he thought this must be a good fish you know carefully pulling it out and ultimately he pulled it out
and to his surprise he saw that this was not a fish, it was something strange there. So he looked and he looked closer and he saw it was a Bhagavad-gītā as it is, which he fished out from the pond.
So Krishna, when he got Bhagavad-gītā, it was nicely packed in a plastic package, so it was not even damaged. So when he got Bhagavad-gītā, he said, Krishna, I got your hint. I got the point. What you want to make.
But what Krishna is saying here is that when you get this impression, when you get this experience, this experience is the solution of all the problems which you have. Why it is the solution?
Because ultimately it's a stronger experience. It's the experience which can ultimately erase all other experiences which we have. Bad experiences and good experiences. Erase all the karma which we have.
And free us completely, give us a complete freedom of this slavery of karma, and ultimately transport our consciousness back to Kṛṣṇa.
Śrīla Prabhupāda is very emphatic here. He says, even 1% you will, this 1% will always remain with you.
And sometimes we can see it, sometimes we see somebody he just starts Krishna consciousness, and immediately he becomes very advanced.
And Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī says, it's not that he becomes very advanced immediately. He just re-establishes his past level of Krishna consciousness, where he left before. He starts off at the point where he left before.
So anything else you do, as Prabhupada says, it can only make sense if it's complete. You do your studies. And let's say you do 90% of your studies, but you don't pass your exam. Do you get anything from that?
No. You have to do complete, 100%. In Krishna consciousness you can do 1%. And this 1% will always remain with you. And ultimately we will you will do 100%. So therefore Krishna says there is no loss on this path.
You will never be in loss. Never in yoga if, you start doing yoga, you know, you start doing yoga and you do some, you know, padmasana, after two you will be able to do padmasana. Okay, fine. So what?
Ultimately you will only get the result if you get to the hundred percent of yoga, which is self-realization.
But Śrīla Prabhupāda said, even if you once chant the Hare Krishna, this one thing will always, you know, and if if you if you learn this padmasana and next life you try to be yoga, you again start, you know, y you will have to learn it again. It will not remain with you.
You will have to start from the scratch and go to the hundredth percent. In Krishna consciousness, you start wherever you are, and whatever little you do, it will always remain with you.
Because ultimately it is the strongest impression. We may not feel this, we may not understand this completely, but ultimately it is. And sometimes we feel it.
You know, in kīrtana we feel such an impression which we'll never feel. Yesterday this is I I finished already. Yesterday I spoke with one Ayurvedic doctor.
This Ayurvedic doctor, he is not a devotee, but he says I sometimes I try to chant. He says, when I chant, I have a very interesting impression, he says, it's as if I have a mint, a leaf of mint in my mouth.
And you know when you have a leaf of mint it becomes cool. He says the same coolness I feel inside when I chant. And he says it's so nice, it's so cool. But then somehow I stop chanting. I said, why don't you stop?
Why don't you continue chanting? It will be cool all the time. So I thought it was a good Ayurvedic explanation of the effects of Hare Krishna mahā-mantra. But that's a fact.
Hare Krishna mahā-mantra completely cools down your brain, your agitated brain, and gives you experience which you will never get anywhere else. And this is Krishna's own word. He says, trayate mahato bhayat.
Even if you die, you will not forget Krishna at the moment of death. Krishna will come to you because this will ultimately be the strongest infection.
And you will never be able to forget about Krishna, no matter what you tell you. Your life is finished, don't worry about it. But ultimately your real life began.
Because your real life is in connection with Krishna because it's reflection of our real nature. So that's what it is. And this is the meaning of this verse.
Swapamayasidamasya Pratyavayo, you will never have any impediments on this path. Nothing will stop you if you're a little determined in this path. Nothing will stop you. Sualpam apyasya Apyasya dharmasya Trayati Mahadobaya.
It will always remain with you and it will protect you from the most dangerous type of fear, which is the fear of degradation of your consciousness, of losing the human form of life.
Any one of you would like to become a dog? No. So there's only one remedy from this fear is to remain in Krishna consciousness, to always connect yourself with Krishna. And you know, it's a very amazing process. Thank you.
Yes. Thank you for such a good explanation. Such an amazing explanation. Couldn't have all by that class. Thank you Maharaj for giving a wonderful excellent youth class.
Uh just a little intro about Mayapur youth class that so many years Nandan Prabhu is collecting the youth class. And every week, every Friday, from five to seven we have a class, four to five, we have a mridanga class.
So with your blessing, we have dedicated our own you know kirtan programs, our own classes. From here we regularly do the Ignite festival.
So now to everyone also, next month, 20th of April, we are doing again uh ignite festival. It is the musical youth festival. Uh-huh. We will invite you over there, bro. Thank you. Thank you.
Rebirth and progression of developing devotees
Thanks for watching. Say if someone is not hundred percent pure, really is you're not pure, so if there is no chance to go back to this to be hundred percent pure, then only you can go back to Krishna.
So five percent suppose he is sixty or seventy percent pure, but he but he is dying. After that, definitely he has to take birth again.
Take birth as a devotee in devotee house. So my question is after that immediately he takes birth in devotee house or he goes to any heavenly planet for some time, then he will take the birth in devotee house. Okay.
Once Prabhupada was saying, it was in Los Angeles, he was saying to go back to God it will have to be 100% pure. And everyone was a little shocked by this thing.
And then Prabhupada looked at everyone, everyone got very serious and I was 100%. That's that's a bit difficult. And then Prabhupada said, okay. Ninety percent is okay. Ninety percent is not sure.
And Prabhupada look, everyone was even more seasoned. Still a long way to go. But eighty percent is enough. And then Prabhupada started working hard. And then he said, okay, 70% is also okay.
And then you know, then he looked he looked out and say, you know, anyway just hold at the tip of my dhoti and I will take you there.
But um going back to your question, yes. What will happen with you it really depends on your desire.
If you want to go to heavenly planets, Krishna will make, if you're a little curious what's going on there, Krishna will take you there. If you have this desire, because I remember very clearly when
I was reading this verse of Śrī Īśopaniṣad, it's every place sounds good. I don't mind going there. You know, Krishna, that's I'm not sure about it. Heavenly planets sound okay to me.
So uh there's no uh uh uh answer to your question like as a rule, it really depends on the state of consciousness.
If somebody has lingering desire to see what is there or to have some sattvic kind of environment. Because what is heaven?
Heaven is a sattvic environment, basically. The sattva-guṇa is very strong. Then Krishna will give you this chance to see this, but at the same time he will keep your Krishna consciousness intact.
And even there, you will still have the desire to be, and you will understand the same.
Like in the story of Nārada Muni, which you just studied in the First Canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, when Nārada Muni was meditating in the forest, when he was a young child, he left his house when his mother was bitten by a snake.
And Krishna said to him, You will never see me again. He m aade spooky, very short show of himself, and then he said, we will never see me again in this life. Then Achai explained why.
They explained because he still had some attachment to Saturn, to South and Iron. He was sitting there and he was saying it was so nice, so beautiful. Trees and lake and so calm.
So if you have this desire to experience this satric environment in the higher planets, then Krishna will give you, but if you only have the desire I want to complete my Krishna consciousness and do this Krishna, then Krishna will directly
send you to a family of the devotees in Kolkata somewhere, which is far away from him in the planets. But much more conducive for spiritual life.
Prabhupada went to Hawaii, he said this is this is a remnant of previous yuga, it's almost heavenly place. You want to see what is there and have the plants go to Hawaii. It never will come back.
Don't have Don't have much. It's the same empty stuff.
Practicing devotional consciousness in daily life
Yes. You said in your lecture was that when we start doing everything in the consciousness of keeping Krishna in the mind. So we being working people or students, how do we do that in practical life?
In practical life it's very simple. There are two rules. Always remember Krishna and never forget him. That's the biggest rule. Okay?
So first rule, remember about Krishna you do when you chant, when you listen, when you listen lecture, when you study book, then you remember about Krishna.
But if you remember Krishna long enough, then while working you will not forget him. And to do it in practically basically change your ego.
Like if mother likes a little child which she has, she may not always remember about the child, right? Sometimes when she is with the child, she is, you know, playing with the child, she remembers about the child.
When she feeds the child, she remembers about the child. But then when she's doing some, you know, washing clothes.
She may not actively remember about the child, but because the connection is already established, whatever she is doing, she is ultimately doing for the child. When she washes the clothes, she doesn't forget about the child because the child is a part of her ego.
So when Krishna says Yukta Asina Matparaham connect yourself with me, he basically means understand or make me a part of your ego or make yourself a part of my ego. Don't divorce yourself with me. I belong to Krishna.
And if you have this consciousness, I belong to Krishna, I am the servant of Krishna, then whatever you do, you will be ultimately for Krishna even though you don't remember God.
So if you establish this consciousness very clearly, I am who I am, I'm a servant of Krishna, I am a part of Krishna, I am a servant of Supreme Spirit, and whatever you do, you will do for him in connection with him.
Even though you may not be actively remembering about him, but this connection is always there on a deeper level, on a level of understanding who you are.
Like you know we have this understanding, I am a husband of this woman. So whatever you do, you will do in this consciousness. I am a husband of this woman.
You will always somehow or other in the back of your consciousness you will remember about this woman because it's your concept. I am the husband of this woman, I am the father of this child.
It will always be there even though you may not actively remember about this. The same thing as Krishna.
If you establish this, I'm a part of Krishna, I'm a servant of Krishna, then even if you don't remember about him, but you do something, it's Krishna consciousness, it's important Krishna consciousness.
You're not forgetting about him. Because this connection is already established on the level of who I am.
Therefore, Lord Chaitanya he says that how he says Nahambhipra, Nachanarapati, Nabiva Shionasudra, Nahambarni, Nachabriapatier, Navanastro, Yatirva, Kind of project, Nikila Parmananda, Bodhivata, Payatamalaya, Dasadas Daswanditasa and Dasadasamadas Krishna, who is the Bhakt, the husband, the lover of God.
So if this connection is there, you will always remember that Krishna. You will never forget about him. And this is my blessing, only thank
you so much for giving the wonderful experience to connect our consciousness with the Krishna consciousness.
