Celebrating Nityananda Trayodasi with Srimad-Bhagavatam

Om namo bhagavate vāsudevāya, Om namo bhagavate vāsudevāya. Hare Krishna. Hare Krishna. So today is Nityānanda Trayodaśī.

We're celebrating the appearance of the original spiritual master in this world who accompanied Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in his pastimes. Here Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Nityananda Prabhu put it together Put.

And for that occasion I will read a verse from the Seventh Canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, in the purport of which Śrīla Prabhupāda explains something about the glory of Lord Nityānanda.

Acquiring knowledge and strength through spiritual guidance

Purata Nita uh what as one has to accept a material body with its different parts and paraphernalia which are not fully under one's control,

one must have the lotus feet of his superiors, namely his spiritual master and the spiritual master's predecessors.

And the annias of particular you by the mercy one can sharpen the sword of knowledge and with the power of the Supreme Personality of God's mercy, one must then conquer the enemies mentioned above.

In this way the devotees should be able to merge into his own transcendental bliss, and then he may give up his body and resume his spiritual identity. Purport.

In Bhagavad-gītā the Lord says: punar janmaaiti mamati sorjuna. and activities does not upon leaving the body take his birth again in this material world but attains my eternal abode or Arjuna.

This is the highest perfection of life and the human body is meant for this purpose. It is said in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam: Dridihamad Yam Sullabam Sudurlabham Plavam Subalbam Guru Karnadharam Mayanukullienabhaswateam

This human form of body is most valuable both, and the spiritual master is the captain, Gurnu Karnadharam. The guide uh to guide the boat in flying across the ocean of nations.

Karale Karapat Vali Gatiago, Padaki woke Talavaram before Anni Guru Avar, Guru Karataram, Krishna Gopadesam, Arupuna Kart Shakam, Ariyama Yunam Karalekalti, Yi Bella Vasikam Guru Kavindo, The

extraction of Krishna is a favorable breeze, one must use this facilities to cross over the ocean of nations since the spiritual master is the captain.

One must serve the spiritual master very sincerely so that by his mercy one will be able to get the mercy of the Supreme Lord.

A significant word here is Achutab Allah, the spiritual master, is certainly by very merciful to the disciples and consequently by satisfying him a devotee gets strength from the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu therefore says, Guru Krishna Prasade Pai Bhakti Lata Beach.

One must first please the spiritual master and then one automatically pleases Krishna and gets the strengths which with switch to cross the ocean of nations.

If one seriously desires to return home back to God, one must therefore become strong enough by pleasing the spiritual master. For thus one gets the weapon by which to conquer the enemy and also gets the grace of Krishna.

Simply getting the weapon of Jnana is insufficient. One must sharpen the weapon by serving the spiritual master and adhering to his instructions, then the candidate will get the mercy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. In general warfare, one must take help from his chariot and the horses in order to conquer his enemy.

And after conquering his enemies, one may give up the chariot and paraphernalia.

Similarly, as long as one has the human body, one should fully use it to obtain the highest perfection of life, namely going back home, back to God.

Everyone shiked a Mahaprabhu, good good Krishna Prasade, five pizza, into Kuriga. Ara Mudani or an Aaniburri fifty Padata Vendum, either Uru Tanaway, Krishna fifty parati, Ariami Karalekana Puriya Partha, Goodwill, goodwill to say I say it, our opening party cannot go to the Mula Mola Matter and the Ayuway for the way to the Sierra Paramous and the

The perfection of knowledge is certainly to become transcendentally situated, brahma-bhūta. As the Lord says in Bhagavad-gītā, one who is transcendentally situated at once realizes the Supreme Brahman and becomes fully joyful.

He never laments, nor desires to have anything. He is equally disposed towards all living entities, and at that state he attains pure devotional service.

Simply by cultivating knowledge, as the impersonalists do, one cannot get out of the clutches of Maya, one must attain the platform of bhakti.

Pra bota andawa kida, kitty, pickover markigra, Uda Lady delife overman Uday Praka Burana Uda Pra uh Avant two year baked on the pole, are you fine for uh fine for the way my pretty little bakteen parutarate arendar went to One

can understand the Supreme Personality as he is only by devotional service and when one is in full consciousness of the Supreme Lord, by such devotion one can enter the kingdom of God.

Unless one has attained the stage of devotional service and mercy of the spiritual master and Krishna, there is n a possibility of uh that one may fall down and again accept material body.

Therefore Krishna stresses in Bhagavad-gītā, janma karma ca me divyam evaṁ yo vetti tattvataḥ. Tattvata.

One who knows the transcendental nature of my appearance and activities does not upon leaving the body takes birth again in this material world and attains my eternal abode or dhāma.

The word Tattvata means in reality is very important. Tatamam Tattvatogyatva. Unless one understands Krishna in truth, by the mercy of the spiritual master, one is uh not free to give up this material body.

As it is said, āruhya kṛcchreṇa paraṁ padaṁ tataḥ pataty adho ’nādṛta-yuṣmad-aṅghraye, Yushmanangraya, if one neglects to serve the lotus feet of Krishna, one cannot become free from the material clutches simply by knowledge.

Even if one attains the stage of Brahmapadam, merging in Brahman without bhakti, he is prone to fall down.

Sadim Swavam Swavarayam Vidu Bodhi Abadatil Vidudibidam Ahmadai Kuriti Urva Vigom Bhadhiya Mingov Bhodiabhattati Vidhabidam Vilandamur to urban, wech a kiya, one trade, one by

must be very careful in regard to the danger of falling down again in the material bodden bondage.

The only insurance is to come to the stage of bhakti from which one is sure not to fall, then one is free from the activities of the material world.

In summary, it is stated by Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. One must get in touch with a bona fide spiritual master coming in the parampara of Krishna consciousness.

For by his mercy and instructions, one is able to get strength from Krishna.

Receiving mercy from Balarama and Nityananda

Thus one engages in devotional service and attains the ultimate goal of life, the lotus feet of Vishnu.

Significant in this other words jnasim achutabalah, jnana asim, the sword of knowledge is given by Krishna, and when one serves the Guru and Krishna, in order to hold the sword of Krishna's instruction, Balarama gives one strength.

Balaram is nityananda, Vrajendra Nanda Nay, Sachi Sutta, Hoila Sei, Balaram Hoyla Nitai.

This Bala Balaram comes with Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and both of them are so merciful that in this age of Kali one may very easily take shelter of their lotus feet. They come especially to deliver the fallen souls of this age.

Papitapi, Yatachila, Harinami, Udharila. Their weapon is Sankirtana, Harinam. Thus, one should accept the sword of knowledge from Krishna and be strong by the mercy of Balaram.

We therefore worship Krishna Balaram in Vrindavan and in Madurai.

Yana see Machutta Balahaya and Surprise Kavaya, Jnana Singara, Jnana Val Krishna, Burkha Party, Burk Krishna Kumsayas Mula Murphan Krishna Mabate Santa Gentra Vali, I would take Kurika, Falar, Nitya and the Prabhu, Radiananda Chisutaho say, Palaram, Hoila Nitai, in the Alaudha Parama, Shri, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Varira, if you have a Paramatarana Mutti and Bada Kali with the Tamara Pal and Puri Papi Kali with the half many caray to the cabin, you have the work in a papitach, Harina. Sankiram. Allah, Harina May, Ava Guru, you paranoid, Yanawala, yet Palana and Karaya, Palam Gordi, Nam, Villa, Gala, Brindavana In Mundaku Upanishad said, Nayamat Mahabala Hine Labyo, na Pramadat Tapasuvati Alingat. One cannot attain the goal of life without the mercy of Balaram.

Srinarotamadas Takurde Fosess. Vraja Radha Krishna Pabi. When one receives the mercy of Balaram Nityananda, one can attain the lotus feet of Radha and Krishna very easily.

Say Sammanda Nahiyar, Brita Janma, Gela Tar Vidya Kuli Nakarilatar.

If one has no connection with Nitai Balaram, then even though one is a very learned scholar or jnani or has taken birth in a very respectable family, these assets will not help him.

We must therefore conquer the enemies of Krishna consciousness with the strengths received from Balaram on the first time.

Overcoming internal enemies through spiritual power

Lambipu Jokana Kavadatu sankirta na ikapi ta rockamalay, tak se vishwam, bowd, ne jvaru, gharma palu. Vandhei, Jagat Priya Karu, Karu Namadar, Yandah pra we shimmou, praçupam, sandji vai ki shakti, dar swadama, anjamat vaga di pananda mo godi po sāitu.

So in this verse, it is very much stressed that we cannot get to Krishna by our own endeavors, by our own knowledge, by our own high births or whatever material qualifications we may have.

It is said specifically here, Achyuta Bala Gyanasi. By the strengths of Achyuta which is coming through the spiritual master, we will be able to use the sword of knowledge, the weapon of knowledge.

world we have to conquer many enemies which are inside of our heart. Kama Kroda Loba Mohamada Matsarya And And it's very difficult to conquer them until we have this material body because they accompany this.

The lust is there, the anger is there, the greed is there, all are there, and we is there. And we may have knowledge that this is not good to be greedy. We may have knowledge that it is not good to get angry.

We may have knowledge that it's not good to last for somebody which doesn't belong to you or whatever, we may have knowledge that it's not good to envy somebody. But still, the lust, envy, greed is there in the heart.

Param Paraprade, Tom, Tom Pala Prade, Adi Polapera, Pura Pakrada Uterium, Analute, and I'll get to Pomadian and the Taputerium, Analamita.

And therefore it is said here to conquer over these enemies you need not only the knowledge, the sword of knowledge, you need the strengths to use this sort of knowledge.

Without the strengths, the spiritual strengths, you will not be able to go through this path of spiritual development. So many people try to go to practice some religion, Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, whatnot, Islam.

But especially now many people are disillusioned with this religious past. We were just in Kerala and in Kerala we know that communist truth.

So one of our devotees asked one communist, you know, how come you Hindu you became a communist? He said, because I went to Hindu church and I was I was cheated. I went to Christian church I was cheated.

Uh I went to Muslim faith and they also cheating. And then I went to communist and they're truthful. Of course, we are coming from Russia and we know that communists also cheating. But uh why this understanding is there?

Because people they try to follow some path and nothing happens. They don't really feel any changes in their life. They go to temple and pray and nothing happens. They go to church and pray and nothing happens.

They go to mosque and pray and nothing happens. Why? Because they cannot really sincerely do this. It is said very clearly by Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura that Krishna only hears the prayer in which... And

it's very rare that the person is born with this feelings of Saranagati, I am completely surrendered to you, my Lord.

That therefore, even though the knowledge is there in all scriptures, in Bhagavad-gītā, in Bible, in Quran, the knowledge is there, the rituals are there, the prayers are there. The temples are there, but nothing happens.

Why? Because there is no strength. The spiritual strength doesn't come to us and we cannot really practice this path. And ultimately cannot feel the peace and liberation even in this life.

Like yesterday we went to this temple, Tirumuhur temple, near Madurai. And we were told the story that Namalvar came to this temple when he wanted to leave this world and to get deliberation.

And it is said that he asked different deities to whom he prayed, please show me the way for liberation, and nobody showed him the way. Everyone said you figure it out yourself.

And ultimately only this Murti in this Tiru Muhur temple showed him the way and therefore it is called Yeah, the the best friend.

But the meaning of this story, the inner meaning of this story is that we need somebody who is our best friend who will show us the way to Krishna.

And not only show us the way to Krishna but takes us by hand and drags us on this way. He will pull us in this way, otherwise we will just be on the way, but uh always be on the way to Krishna.

The point is that it's not so easy to come to Krishna ultimately to realize all these truths which are there and the scriptures.

Therefore, it is said in this verse specifically that you will only be able to feel svananda tushtaha. You will be able to feel the complete bliss which is there in the soul already

if you take strengths or get the strength from the spiritual master. Only in this case you will be able to conquer over all the enemies which are there in your heart.

And therefore Lord Nityānanda is glorified and Lord Balarāma glorified in this purpose by Śrīla Prabhupāda.

Because Lord Balarām and Lord Nityānanda are the manifestation of the original spiritual master who gives us the strength to go on this path of devotional service.

The purpose of this statement is that uh you will never get the strengths unless you surrender to the spiritual master completely. You will not be able to really practice the devotional service properly unless

this relationship with the spiritual master is established. You may remain a theoretical devotee giving all kinds of lectures, but uh still nothing will happen in your heart, nothing will happen in your life.

But if you see Lord Nityānanda or his representative, you will immediately get the strengths to follow this path. Why? How do you get the strengths? You will see how blissful he is.

Nityānanda is called Nityānanda because he is always constantly blissful.

And you need the bliss which is emanating, exuding from the body of the spiritual master representative of Lord Nityānanda, to really have the spiritual strength. Otherwise

we try to conquer the lust, but how is it possible to conquer the lust? Because lust gives you the bliss. All people here are in the prison of lust, in the prison of sex desire.

But if one feels the spiritual bliss, spiritual ānanda, which is experienced by the spiritual master, you will be able to conquer this enemy of lust. And you can feel this bliss when you serve the spiritual master.

And therefore Lord Nityānanda is called Nityānanda. He's constantly in this bliss, in this state of bliss.

Understanding the concept of servitor Godhead

So that's a little little explanation of this verse and I will speak a few words about Lord Nityananda, how he was and who he was.

Kṛṣṇadāsa Kavirāja Gosvāmī in Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta explains in the very beginning of Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, the glory of Lord Nityānanda. And he says that Lord Nityananda is actually the first and foremost servitor of God.

According to the philosophy of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, there are two Bhagavāns. Bhagavān is not one, there are two Bhagavāns. Oh sometimes we say God is one, God is one, but actually it's not true. There are two gods.

Oh sometimes they say three gods or five gods. So it's it's very confusing. But still there are two gods, there are two main gods. Seviya Bhagavān, the Bhagavān who is worshiped.

Seviya Bhagavān, yata bhagavāna bali para vāna and the Bhagavān. And Sevaka Bhagavān, the Bhagavān who is worshiping. Because who can serve Bhagavān but Bhagavān himself?

If we limited jīva try to serve Bhagavān, we will just create a mess. To serve Bhagavān one has to be really qualified. And because Bhagavan wants to be served, he takes another form to serve himself.

He doesn't count on us. He doesn't really have so much hope in our service. You know, it's he's he decides it's it's like manager, you know.

Sometimes manager has so many people under him, and then they all disqualified, and ultimately he says, you just go home and I will do it myself. It's easier.

So in the same way Bhagavān says no, no, they're all useless. Let me serve myself. So therefore, he takes another form and becomes Sevaka Bhagavān.

Śrīla Prabhupāda says there is the Supreme Personality of Godhead and there is the Supreme Personality of Servitor Godhead. So uh and ultimately uh why uh the Lord takes this form of Sevaka Bhagavān?

Because He wants to teach us what it means to serve. What does it mean to serve? śrī-caitanya-guru, yāṅhāṅ kṛṣṇa-nāma-taṭā-carita, kṛṣṇa yāṅhā śrī-prema- āsvāda, taṭā-carita, balarāma-putra.

All living entities have little desire for perfection. Everyone.

Some people have stronger desire for perfection, some people have weaker desire for perfection, but everyone has some desire for perfection it's innate to our

soul to the spirit spark which is inside. But the imperfect living entities will never be able to realize this desire or this strive, this tendency for perfection, unless the perfect one, God Himself, comes and teaches us what does it mean to be perfect.

In a similar way, every one of us has the desire for ananda for joy for bliss.

But on our own we will never be able to understand to to find out where the bliss is, how to get this bliss, unless the perfect one shows us the way to this bliss.

And therefore the Lord comes Himself to manifest this bliss and how to get this bliss by serving the Lord.

Remembering Nityananda Prabhu's pastimes in Puri

It's amazing. The Lord Nityānanda is extremely powerful, very powerful.

It is explained that when Śrī Caitanya Prabhu first entered the temple of Lord Jagannātha, he felt such strong attraction to Lord Jagannātha, that he started running towards the Lord.

But he was stopped by the guards which were there in front of Lord Jagannātha. And he fainted.

But little later his associates with Lord Nityānanda, Mukunda and others, they all came to Jagannātha Purī a little later, few minutes later, half an hour or one hour later.

And they started searching for Caitanya Mahāprabhu and somebody told him that yes, there was some sannyāsī very tall and he fainted at floor in front of Lord Jagannātha and Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya took him to his house.

And all the associates of Caitanya Mahāprabhu found Lord Caitanya in the house of Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya and started chanting kīrtana in this house. And the Sarva Batacharya we kept our Mukha Sandoshmara Annodina and the Pantaria

And ultimately Sārvabhauma Bhaṭṭācārya said, okay, you go and take darśana of Lord Jagannātha now. And he gave them one guide who is supposed to take them to Lord Jagannātha and to show everything around.

And this guide when he was together with this associates of Lord Caitanya, he said, you know, I will take you to Lord Jagannātha, but on one condition. Only if you behave very properly in the temple.

Because your leader, this sannyāsī, he didn't behave properly and therefore he was almost beaten by the guards.

There is a certain etiquette you should follow when you enter the temple, you should do this, and you should really behave yourself.

And when the associates of Lord Caitanya heard this word, they started laughing. They just couldn't contain themselves, they started laughing.

And then somebody said to this guide, no problem, no problem, we will behave ourselves properly. And then the guide, you know, naive as he was, he took all of them to the temple of Lord Jagannātha.

And the first thing which Lord Nityānanda did when he saw this huge deity of Lord Jagannātha, he started running towards them. And this poor guide was crying from behind, stop, stop, you promised to me to behave properly.

And then the guards try to stop Lord Nityānanda. And Lord Nityānanda by his mystic power, one guard was flying in one direction, another guard was flying in another direction. They all found themselves on the ground.

And to their dismay, they saw Lord Nityānanda jumping on the altar and grabbing the body of Lord Balarāma. And they started crying, hi, hi, hi, hi.

And then not only this, Lord Nityananda took the garland from Lord Bharalam and put it on his own neck. And he became very happy. And these guards, seeing this, they said he must be something special.

Because who could do this to us? We are very strong, but he himself just threw us out and then put the garment, and nothing happened to him.

So the point which I want to make is that Lord Nityananda is even stronger than Lord Chaitanya. Lord Chaitanya was stopped by the guards, but Lord Nityananda he couldn't care less.

Lord Chaitanya fainted, but Lord Nityananda embraced Balaram.

So he is very strong, but despite even though he is very strong, Lord Nityananda always considers himself as the servant of Lord Chaitanya. That's his real glory.

The real glory is not when we serve, when we cannot do anything else. Sometimes people become subordinate because they're just useless. They they just they just have to serve. But Lord Nityananda is extremely powerful.

But he uses all his power just to serve the Lord. Which is very rare. When we have power, we want to lord, right? We don't want to serve, we want to show our own power.

But Lord Nityananda teaches us that the power which is given to us by the Lord Krishnadas Kaviraja Goswami in this beginning of Caitanya-caritāmṛta, he says that the Lord Himself is immersed in His internal bliss.

But at the same time, he is not callous, he is not uh indifferent to the sufferings of these fallen souls in the material world. But he doesn't want to meddle with this you know business himself.

And therefore his first expansion, Saṅkarṣaṇa, Mahā-Saṅkarṣaṇa, in the spiritual world starts this work of creation of this material world

by taking shape of Kāraṇodakaśāyī Viṣṇu, then Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu and then ultimately Kṣīrodakaśāyī Viṣṇu. In other words, the main service which uh Lord Nityananda

and Mahā-Saṅkarṣaṇa doing is to deliver the fallen souls. The Lord Himself is completely blissful. He doesn't need anything. He is immersed in His own bliss.

But still He has suffering because He knows that we are suffering in this material world. And therefore the best service uh we can do to the Lord is to try to deliver souls from this material world.

And that's what Lord Nityananda is doing and was doing when he came to this material world.

Departing Ekachakra to begin spiritual service

In the same way as uh Kāraṇodakaśāyī Viṣṇu and Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu and Kṣīrodakaśāyī Viṣṇu are trying to deliver the spirit souls from this clutches of material energy in the same way Nityananda Prabhu was doing this mission when he came together with Caitanya Mahāprabhu. But it's very important.

He didn't do it on his own. He was waiting for the order, for the direct order from the Lord. Again, to show us the example.

It is said that Nityānanda Prabhu was born in Rāḍhadeśa in Ekacakrā village, in Ekacakrā grāma, and he was born twelve years before Lord Caitanya.

And uh for these twelve years he was blissfully engaged in his childhood pastimes. And that is explained by Vrindavan Das Thakur that he was in his childhood past times, he was enacting all the pastimes of the Lord.

Sometimes he was playing like Lord Rāmacandra or Lakṣmaṇa. Sometimes he was playing like Varaha or Kurma or Parasurama. And for twelve years he was just doing this.

But then when he was twelve years old, he understood my Lord has taken birth. When Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu appeared in Navadvīpa, Lord Nityānanda, small boy at that time, felt immense bliss.

Mahaprabhu, Nadīyā parikramā, upon the arm of the water would be uh, but uh, and immediately he thought, okay, now the time for my mission has come.

It's time for me to leave home and go travel and prepare myself for this mission to deliver the spirit souls from this clutches of material energy.

But even though the strong vairāgya, the spirit of detachment, arose in the heart of little boy Nityānanda, he still couldn't leave his home because his father and mother were too much attached to him.

It is said that his father, Hāḍāyi or Hṛdaya Paṇḍita, was so attached to the son that he was to his son, that he was taking him everywhere he would go, he would take his son with him.

If he would go to the field, he would take his son with him. If he would go to the disciples, he would take his son with him. Everywhere he was he was he couldn't separate with his son for a moment.

Vṛndāvana dāsa Ṭhākura says that if Hāḍāyi was doing something and he was not directly looking at little Nityananda, he would feel very bad.

And then Vṛndāvana dāsa Ṭhākura says he would look at Lord Nityānanda a hundred times a minute. He is reading something and then looking at Lord Nityananda. A hundred times a minute. I don't know how he can read.

But that's to show how attached his father was to little Nityananda. Little Nityānanda was the life and soul of the whole village. Lord Nityananda was thinking, you know, how can I remain at home?

My Lord has already come. I have to start serving him. This desire to serve is the most important thing which we have in our heart. There is nothing more important.

And Lord Nityānanda is teaching us by his example he couldn't remain at home when this calling for the mission came to his heart, when he heard this calling for the mission.

So Nityānanda Prabhu arranged the līlā and uh soon after Lord Chaitanya was born, a sannyāsī came to Eka Chakra Gram.

And this sannyāsī has a very had a very divine appearance. And he came to the house of Hadai Pandit and he said, Can you give me some picture and can you feed me?

And the sannyāsī sivanapurhidigwa Prashad and Hadai Pandit happily gave him prasāda and uh talked with him through the whole night. For the whole night they were discussing the pastimes of Krishna.

And in the morning sannyāsī told him, I am very pleased with you. And Hadai Pandit became very pleased, he said, though I am very happy that I pleased you.

And then sannyāsī said, but I have one more small request. You gave me everything, but I need one little request from you.

And uh Chinnai and uh uh and Hadai Pandit said, of course everything which you ask me I will give you immediately. He said I don't I don't need much, I just need your son.

Because I'm traveling and I don't have any assistant with me and you know he he can cook with me and he can help me, so please give me your son.

It felt as if the thunderbolt struck him on the head. And he didn't know what to do. He already said, I'll give you my son. But at the same time, the very thought of leaving the son was worse than death.

He felt the pain as if he was bitten by ten thousand scorpions at the same time. Please imagine ten thousand scorpions bite you.

And and then he started thinking the same thing happened with Daśaratha. And actually he said, I felt that something like this will happen to my son. Because I noticed that there was a very strong sense of feeling of detachment which he manifested.

And then ultimately he decided, yes, I should give my son to this sannyasi. And who went? He went to mother of Lord Nityānanda Padmāvatī Devī and he asked her advice and he said, What should I do?

He already promised to give our son, our only son to this sannyasi. What shall we do? And the sannyāsī already have given a big nayra

And she is a chaste wife of Hadai Pandit, she said, you do whatever you decide. I will accept any decision of yours. Can you imagine how difficult it was for them. But Lord Nityananda was very happy.

This sannyasi took this Nityananda and they starteding walking and walk and walking, and Lord Nityananda Deevan didn't even look back. I am going to serve my Lord.

Vrindavana dasa Thakura says that as much as Sukadeva Goswami left his father Vyasadev without looking back, the same way Nityananda Prabhu went away.

As much as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu left his mother in Navadvipa without looking back the same way. And Hridai Caitanya Pandit fell unconscious on the ground.

Because he was attached to the Lord and the very thought of the separation with the Lord was intolerable for him. And

when all the inhabitants of Ekachakra gram found out that Nityananda Prabhu left, they started crying and they started pulling out their hairs. They were trying to run behind this sannyasi.

Somebody was running behind him and crying, oh, this Nityananda, he cannot cook, take my son, but leave Nityananda here. And Nityananda prabhu proposed someone else was running behind and saying, no, no, take my son, leave Nityananda here, because my son knows all that uh holy places, he will be a good assistant to you.

All of Ekachakra gram, all the inhabitants of Ekachakra gram became mad. It is said that Hridai Caitanya Pandit didn't eat and didn't drink for three months after Nityananda Prabhu left.

He was maintaining his life only by remembering about his son. Many, many years later, Jahnava Devi, the wife of Lord Nityananda,

took her disciples and they came to a kachakra gram to celebrate the birthplace of her husband. Vrindavana dasa Thakura, Jhanava Devi, Narottama Dasa Thakura, Ekachakra gram to Navadvipa, and a Kaman Panatha Mata.

And when they came to Ekachakra Gram, they found out that the whole Ekachakra Gram, which was a very... Because all the inhabitants lost their life and their desire to live in this place.

It was too painful for them to live in Ekachakra gram because everything reminded them about their loss, about their separation with Lord Nityananda.

Anyway, what I want to say that Lord Nityananda felt a very strong desire to serve Lord Chaitanya, but he didn't really start serving Lord Chaitanya

Journeying to Navadvip on divine instruction

unless he was directly ordered by the Lord. He traveled all over the holy places, all over India. He came to Mathura, I'm sure. Vrindavana dasa Thakura doesn't say about this, but he couldn't miss it.

And ultimately he again came back to Mathura-mandala and then Vrindavana, near Radha-kunda he was sitting. Still near Radha-kunda, there is a place which is called Nityananda Baithak.

Nityananda Baithak, you know, Nityananda Prabhu na tata. It is said that Lord Nityananda while in Mathura, he was completely immersed in his bliss and he was always remembering his childhood pastimes.

He was grown up man, he was travelling for twenty years all over India. He was thirty-two when he came back to Vrindavan to Madhura. And even though he was 32, he was rolling in the ground like a small child.

And sometimes he was going naked in Mathurā. Then a 32-year-old man goes naked. It's unusual. Unless he is a Naga Baba from Varanasi. But Lord Nityānanda was completely like a small child.

Actually, all the inhabitants of Vṛndāvana, they didn't consider that he's a 32-year-old seasoned pilgrim who traveled all over India, they all considered that he is a small child. Because this was his mood.

And sometimes he did, sometimes he just laughed and rolled in the ground, and sometimes he would drink little milk and this is the way how he behaved himself in Mathurā.

But then at one point he heard the voice from the sky, ākāśa-vāṇī. And the ākāśa-vāṇī told him, your Lord started saṅkīrtana movement. movement. Go to Nadia, he is waiting for you there.

Nadiā, because when Lord Caitanya started this saṅkīrtana movement in Navadvīpa, all his associates were already there. He was only missing Lord Nityānanda.

And oftentimes he would say, "Nitāi, Nitāi, Nitāi," and nobody could understand who is this Nitāi.

And when Nityānanda Prabhu heard this voice that your Lord started this movement to liberate all the souls in this material universe, he started running towards Navadvīpa and he was running non-stop.

Nobody could stop Nityānanda Prabhu on the way. Nobody could stop Nityānanda Prabhu on the way. He was running and chanting, Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma, Rāma, Hare Hare, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare. I

Spreading congregational chanting throughout Bengal

cannot tell you, you know, even if I talk for a long time, I will not be able to tell everything, so I will speak a few more words about Lord Nityānanda and perhaps some of his pastimes.

He came to Navadvīpa and there was a meeting between him and Lord Caitanya. Lord Caitanya, being reunited with his elder brother, became completely happy and blissful.

It is said that when they met first in the house of Nandācārya, they started dancing like mad. Lord Caitanya became so happy that he started jumping as if he wanted to smash the roof of this house of Nandācārya.

He was jumping so high that, you know, everyone was afraid that he would break his bones when he would fall down on the ground. And Lord Nityānanda started jumping even higher. That was the first jumping contest.

And then they embraced each other and fainted, and for many hours they were fainted in ecstasy of love. And from day from that day on uh Lord Nityananda were always glorifying Lord Chaitanya.

Again uh when uh the sevaka bhagavan the manifestation of this service mood comes to this world his only business is to glorify his lord.

This is the highest service which we can render to somebody if we really sincerely from the heart understand his glory and glorify uh him and uh proclaim his glory uh to everyone.

Because of our envious nature, it's sometimes very difficult for us to recognize the glory of somebody else.

Even if we try to glorify him, we always say, but You know, we know, we say, yeah, yeah, he is glorious, he has this, but he also has some faults.

But Lord Nityananda shows us what does it mean to serve. To serve means to have the heart which is completely clean and free from envy.

And by this pure heart to recognize the glory of the Lord and proclaim this glory to everyone. And Lord Nityananda became so attached to Lord Chaitanya that he couldn't leave him for a second.

As much as Gadadhara Pandit was attached to Lord Nityananda, Lord Nityananda was attached to Lord Chaitanya. Under any pretext, he would follow Lord Chaitanya.

And therefore, when Lord Chaitanya took sannyas uh only five people accompanied him, and one of them was Lord Nityananda. Lord Nityananda was one of the few people to whom Lord Chaitanya shared his plan to take sannyas.

And when Lord Nityananda heard that Lord Chaitanya is about to take sannyas, he was struck by thunder. He said, No, you cannot do this. How can you leave your wife? How can you leave your mother? How can you leave Navadwip?

And he was trying to dissuade Lord Chaitanya and said, no, no, stay here. But then he looked at Lord Chaitanya.

And then he said, You're the independent Supreme Lord. I know you will do whatever you like. So if you do this, I will follow you. So when Lord Chaitanya finally took sannyasa, Lord Nityananda was following him.

When after some time being in Jagannath Puri and spending some time in Jagannath Puri, Lord Chaitanya decided to leave and go to South India or travel around India. Lord Nityananda said, I will go with you.

Sannyasi acarya purvaj know all the places. I know all the roots. And I know all the pure vegetarian restaurants on the way. Of course at that time there was no need for vegetarian restaurants, everyone was vegetarian.

And Lord Chaitanya said to Lord Nityananda, yeah yeah I know once you once you took me to Vrindavan I already know how you guide me to the race.

Because when Lord Chaitanya took sannyās, Lord Nityānanda said, I will show you the way to Vṛndāvana. And instead of taking him to Vrindavan, he took him back to Advaita Charya's house in Shantipur.

And Chaitanya Maprabhu says, No, no, you are just crazy. I I will not go with you. You cannot behave yourself. Never.

So when Lord Chaitanya for 14 months he was traveling all over India, Lord Nityānanda was remaining in Jagannātha Purī. And he was counting days and hours and minutes and seconds when Lord Chaitanya will come back. And during this 14 months in Jagannātha Purī, every day Lord Chaitanya, Lord Nityānanda would go out on the streets and by walking on the streets of Jagannātha Purī, he would glorify Lord Chaitanya. He came to deliver everyone by this harināma-saṅkīrtana. Everyone should surrender to him and he is my Lord and Master. And whoever says Gaurāṅga, Gaurāṅga, he will be the most dear to my heart. So this beautiful most beautiful sannyāsī walking in the streets of Jagannātha Purī and basically you know inducing everyone, just surrender and basically you know inducing everyone, just surrender and chant Gaurāṅga, Gaurāṅga, Gaurāṅga, Gaurāṅga. And then when Lord Chaitanya finally came back and Lord Nityānanda was so happy, Lord Chaitanya, after a few days, just a few days, took him aside. And said to him, My dear Lord Nityananda, you go away from Puri. This is your service. You spent enough time here in Jagannātha Purī in Orissa. Now you go to Bengal. And you save the whole Bengal. And without thinking twice, even though he was so attached to Lord Chaitanya, Lord Nityānanda said, Yes, my lord, I will do whatever you tell me to do. I am your servant, and the service to you is my life. I will not leave without serving you. And if you want me to go to hell, I will go to hell. And if you want me to go to West Bengal, I will go to West Bengal. So he went to Bengal and you know the first kīrtana which Lord Nityānanda Prabhu in Pānihāṭī started, harināma saṅkīrtana in West Bengal outside of Navadvīpa. Of course, Lord Chaitanya himself started saṅkīrtana movement in Navadvīpa, but Lord Nityananda started spreading this saṅkīrtana movement outside of Navadvīp, and his first kīrtana was in Pāṇihāṭī when he arrived to Bengal when he crossed Ganga.

When but our change of Mudal Kirton and the Pani Hati up in Earthana, in a Chitama, now the Nadiya on the Kirtan Sarah Mishda, so Chitama one the Era Pana Mudu one of the other sangi to share up the Kodama.

And his first kirtan in Navadvib lasted for three months non-stop.

He was dancing and chanting and all his associates were dancing and chanting and very soon all the villagers started dancing and chanting and nobody ate, nobody slept, and nobody drank for three months.

If you believe it, you are saved. If you don't believe it, you will go to hell.

It is said that during this kirtan, little boys who were jumping and dancing and chanting, Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rāma Hare Rāma Rāma Rāma Hare Hare developed such enthusiasm and such a strength.

And the chicken on the kick of the path on the chicken harikish and that they would jump on the coconut palms and when dancing on the coconut palms.

And the Chicago and the Party Art Voluntary and the Rongalochina of Burchana Pina Tender, Padamart, Mandalog, and you can either put Chantaloga.

And then the next day say of this kīrtana sometimes some of these little kids would come to the palm and would pluck this palm, uroot of this palm completely. Kirchner our dance are Panama putting pudding on the way, Papatio and the Anu.

You can try during the next Kirtan. Anyway, that's the power of Lord Nityananda. He's the Lord Himself.

He can empower anyone by the medium of the holy name. But he himself was empowered by the Lord himself, by Lord Chaitanya by Lord Chaitanya himself. And in the service of Lord Chaitanya, he was ready to do anything.

It is said that his next stop was uh Saptagram. And in Saptagram Lord Nityananda he converted 2500 It was a very um very you know it was a very cruel conversion mission. They were really into conversion.

It is said that our Śrīla Prabhupāda, His Divine Grace, A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda... Lord Nityānanda Prabhu, he converted Buddhist monks and Buddhist nuns, which is not so bad.

But Śrīla Prabhupāda converted thousands of hippies into vaiṣṇavas. It's much more difficult. And Uddhāraṇa Datta converted the leader of uh Suvarṇa Vaṇika community in Saptagrām. Nik community in Sapta Gram.

And Śrīla Prabhupāda is from this Suvarṇa Vaṇika caste and he is a descendant of Udharana Data, the leader of Suvarnava Nixon Sapta Gram converted by Lord Nityānanda.

And of course our Balaram Gavinda Prabhu is also Suvarnavanik. She follows the family tradition. He's doing the family business of all Suvarnava Diks. So anyway, so that was the beginning

of the conquest of First Bengal which was completely converted by Lord Nityananda into the followers of Lord Caitanya.

And therefore, that was the plan of Lord Caitanya, the secret plan which Lord Caitanya had, by sending Lord Nityānanda. What he wanted, he wanted to come back to Bengal.

But he wanted to come back in a completely new capacity. When Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu was there, nobody really appreciated him. Few people, few of his associates appreciated him and his movement, but most of

the people were kind of neglectful or even offensive towards Lord Caitanya. But Lord Caitanya not without a reason to descend in Bengal, because Bengal was a very fallen place at that time.

Lord Himself descended in a very fallen place because that's his mission to develop to deliver the most fallen people. But the Lord Himself, Lord Caitanya Himself, was unsuccessful in this.

And therefore he sent Lord Nityānanda and he said and Lord Nityānanda was completely successful. To this day, in every village in Bengal, everyone is chanting the glories of Lord Nityānanda.

The people they come back home and they song and they sing the songs about the glory of Lord Nityananda. And finally, when when finally Lord Caitanya came back to West Bengal, the whole West Bengal surrendered to him.

The whole Western Gaul recognized him as their savior.

Transforming lives through the desire to serve

And the whole West Bengal accepted this saṅkīrtana movement of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Why? Because Lord Nityānanda wanted to serve Lord Caitanya. This desire is sufficient to bring us all success.

Why Śrīla Prabhupāda was so successful? Only because he had very strong desire within his heart. No other things he had. No money, no followers, no material strengths, nothing. Just desire in the heart.

Pick Patra Al Kadaya, Savannah, Yalu Kadaya, Dana, Audi Manasala Rumba, Ganamana, Yellamanda, Asamata, Panama Pit. Desire to serve Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityānanda.

And because of this desire, Śrīla Prabhupāda conquered over the whole world. He came to Russia, he conquered Russia, he came to America, he conquered America, he came to Germany, he conquered Germany.

She will have a tree and judgment our Russia kupana Russia Makalati Veteran America Pana America Makalati Veteranja upon European Europealati.

Because Lord Nityānanda empowered him with this desire to, and if we get the āśīrvāda of Śrīla Prabhupāda, we will get the same desire in our heart, and we will conquer over Mathurā City and many other cities.

Because Lord Nityānanda is the source of spiritual strength. And spiritual strength is what we need to follow this path of devotional service.

He gives us this achievable, the spiritual strength to follow this uh to practice this devotional service and to help others to practice devotional service.

And if we don't get the strength by surrendering to spiritual master Śrīla Prabhupāda and all his predecessors and ultimately Lord Nityānanda. If we don't get strength, we will become yet another cheating religion.

When people are just delivering God by getting some donations in exchange. And nothing changes in the people's heart. Nothing really changes in their lives. That's called cheating.

But if we obtain the spiritual strength which is coming through Lord Nityānanda, from the Supreme Lord Krishna and Lord Chaitanya through Lord Nityānanda and through Prabhupāda, then we will be able to really change our own hearts and the hearts of other people.

Thank you very much. Śrīmatīnanda Prabhu kī jaya! Śrī Śrī Gaurā-Nitāi kī jaya! Gaurāṅga! Gaurāṅga!
