So I will I was asked to speak on the topic of Dharma Samstapan, how to establish Dharma in the society dumb budastavi samstait It's a very important topic because we see all over the world that Dharma,
the Vedic Dharma, is suffering a lot of the onslaughts of different Adharic religions. In Mahabharata, there is a definition of Dharma. Mahabharata. Dharma, what is dharma? Dharma is dharma samyukama.
Dharma, this is the set of rules which make uh the society stable. It's the culture of sustainability.
So what we can see in the modern world is that the modern culture which is spreading all over the world, specifically Western culture, is totally unsustainable.

Vedic culture was existing for thousands of years and it gave stability to people and the society was very stable.

There is ecological crisis, there is social crisis, there is family crisis, there is demographic crisis, there is economic crisis, there is huge moral crisis. You know, the whole society is in a critical condition.
And uh British historian Arthur Toynby he said that if humanity will not take the Hindu way of life, it will perish, it will destroy itself.
Limitations of adopting superficial practices
So establishing dharma is not an option, it's a necessity, it's a dire necessity of human civilization. And the sooner people of this world understand this fact, the better it will be.
But unfortunately we see that uh you know very few people understand this.
Of course we can see all over the world there is a spread of yoga as opposed to modern ways of maintaining health, there is a spread of Ayurveda as opposed to modern medicine.
It's uh definitely gaining momentum all over the place in America in Western countries.
But unfortunately, all these modern Western followers of yoga, Ayurveda and other Vedic sciences, they only take advantage of these sciences, they exploit these sciences instead of taking the totality of Vedic culture and ultimately to adopt the philosophy
which would because ultimately what is destroying the world, uh the greed which is within the heart of people is the causal factor of destruction, total destruction of the world.
Spiritual practices which are developed in Vedic culture they can change the heart of people, they can relieve the heart of people from kāma, krodha, lobha, moha, mada and mātsarya, from the six enemies of the human beings.
He founded this as a substitute to the real thing here. But if people just do some external yoga or even come to Kerala to take Ayurvedic treatment, it's not going to change their heart.
Erosion of traditional education systems
To change the heart, you need to adopt the totality of Vedic culture and the basis, the foundation of Vedic culture is Vedic philosophy, Vedanta philosophy or you know six schools of philosophy uh which helps you to understand the proper value system.
For thousands of years Vedic culture was extremely stable and even one thousand years of Muslim rules didn't change the society so much.
But then after British came to India, they adopted a very vicious method to destroy Vedic culture. And they systematically destroyed the tradition and they actually destroyed the Vedic system of education.
The culture reproduces itself through the media of education, especially when you educate little children.
What is going on under the name of education even in modern India is actually ignorance which is promoted and pushed by Britishers. All this Western educational system is very much prominent in India, unfortunately.
And you can only mean something in the society uh if you have this so-called educational diploma which actually was the device introduced by the Britishers into the Indian culture which ultimately destroyed the culture.
How dharma, how the culture maintained itself because of the education and education was centered in the temples. Uh anyway, like the same soy, other than the Daniel, are they not a shape primary?
Temples were not primarily the places of ritual and worship they were primarily the places of education where educated people would give free education to the children.

You know, education is called education because it changes the heart of the people, it changes the mind of people the, it changes their outlook and relationship to the world.

Presenting Vedic culture as science
If we really want to re-establish Dharma and put it on a very strong footing, there is no other way than to try to restore the Vedic system of education. It actually pains my heart. I'm from an atheistic background.
I was born in Russia. My parents were at these, my grandparents were atheist. I have a scientific background.
But I discovered this jewel, this beauty, beautiful phenomena of Vedic culture which is extremely rational, extremely scientific, and gives very satisfactory answers to all the questions of human mind.
But shall I know the particular substantial move in an egg be some startup mahuma? And it pains my heart to see how this beautiful culture is underestimated in its birth land, in the land of Bharata.
The founder of this con A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda was so successful in his preaching and the best because of one reason.
And the secret of his success is that he presented Vedic culture as the science, not as a religion.
He explained that this is a very rational science of proper sustainable living in this world, sustainable relationship between people, sustainable relationship between people and the nature and everything else. So he presented it like this, and all his followers in the West, uh they could relate to it, they can understand that this is really the proper way, the truth, which explains how to live peacefully in this world.
Vedi culture is much more rational and scientific than any other culture of the world, no Christian culture, no Muslim culture. Come even close to any culture.
But we have to understand how to present Vedic culture as a science. Nowadays all people they follow science. They take science seriously.
And we have Vedic science and this Vedic science has to be re-established and then the educational system to teach the Vedic science has to be also introduced. So for that we really, you know, if we try to introduce Vedic
culture as a religion, then people say, no, I, you have your religion, I have my religion. Why do I have to take your religion? And then there will be question of conversion, this and that.
But if we understand that Vedic culture is not a religion, it's a universal science, which is true here, which is true in America, which is true all over the world, then there is no question of people rejecting it because science is science.
Science is truths. you give people the medicine, people don't care whether medicine is produced. They only care if medicine is effective or not, if it helps them to cure their disease.
In a similar way, if we present Vedic culture as the solution to people's problem, they will not care whether it is Indian or not Indian if they understand that this medicine for their problems work.
And therefore Śrīla Prabhupāda, one of his slogans, the samsthāpakācārya of ISKCON, one of his slogans was spiritual solutions to material problems. Yeah. Adyatmika pariharanam is very important.
So we have to understand how the answers to all the problems of humanity are there in the Vedic culture.
Global impact of spiritual education
The modern culture offers material solutions to spiritual problems, but the Vedic culture gives the spiritual solutions to material problems.
So my only request this evening to all is to really take this mission to the heart. One elderly sannyāsī from Bengal went to America without any support, without any money, without any followers.
And then he traveled all over the world 11 times and made hundreds of thousands of followers. Now in Russia alone we have hundreds of thousand uh Krishna devotees,
followers of Vedic culture, followers of his cause. Just one person who took it very seriously made such an impact all over the world.
I finished my talk with a little anecdote which happened with me in probably 1999 or maybe early 2000 when I went to Rishikesh, I was a part of Hindu delegation
to the Millennium Religious Dialogue, whatever it was, symposium in United Nations. And before that, the Dayananda Saraswati, who was the head of uh Hindu delegation, he uh gathered all
the people in Rishikesh and his ashram. So uh Uh in the chariot prabashramya samak to show the commute some Millennium Symposium United Nations. United Nations. I think some of the way So
In the break, one sādhu approached me. And all of a sudden spontaneously he started glorifying Śrīla Prabhupāda, founding ācārya of ISKCON. He said, I'm the head of gurukula, I have four hundred students. I teach Sanskrit to them and you know I have some level of learning and understanding and everything. He said, but despite all of this, I couldn't make my own children,
my own sons, to wear doti. They all were jeans now. And Śrīla Prabhupāda went to America and he made Americans to wear doti. By this I can see how great he is.
But in reality, of course, the greatness of Srila Prabhupada was that he was completely convinced that Vedic culture is a science, is a great science which can solve all the problems of humanity. Puran dishamay.
śrīla-prabhupāda-mahīmā other moon shadaman shiryam, they would shall be a good one. He presented this culture as a science and therefore the success is there.
So the essence of what I said is that we should appreciate this science and start teaching it all over the world, at least all over Kerala.
I'm sure you already doing it, but I just wanted humbly to give this suggestion, and if I can be of any help, I'm ready to help.
So I'm I'm a stranger here, but uh I'm deeply in heart take this Vedic culture and I'm totally convinced that this is the only solution for all the problems of the world.
