Delusion of dualities in material existence

Abduladunk. It's a very important pleasure for me to be here with you. I will say a few words about this important verse from Bhagavad Gita. Krishna is explaining Dvanva Moha or illusion of dualities of this world.

This is one of the most important topics of Bhagavad Gita. How people become bewildered due to their vision of duality. Sargayanti uh Sarga Paranta Pati.

Sarvagutani Samuham Sargayanti Paranta Pati says that everyone is born with this vision, with this deluded or uh wrong vision of dua. Basically this duality means something I like, something I don't like.

And this becomes the deciding factor of my life. I like this thing and therefore I will work as much as possible to get this uh to obtain some kind of pleasure after getting the thing which I like.

I need something and I will do as much as possible to avoid the things which I don't like. This like and don't like is the basis, foundation of our life. But Bhagavan Sri Krishna says it's wrong, it's a wrong foundation.

This foundation or this deciding factor basically brings us to hell. And nobody is exempt of this conception. This is totally illusory conception. I like this, I don't like this, it's totally relative.

It doesn't have any foundation, but still everyone is guided by this pattern. Like here we are in India and everyone is food with a lot of chili. But these people are from Russia. And forever is torture.

They see this red food they become terrified. relative, you know. You're just used to this conception and you have this conception that this is good. And because you're programmed in this way and you will do this.

But somebody is programmed in a different way and he will try to avoid whatever it's bad. It's a simple example, but this example shows how stupid it is to be guided by this conception, I like this, I don't like this.

But this understanding is very deeply rooted within our heart. When we see somebody and we say he is beautiful or she is beautiful. Already there is conception because ultimately nobody is beautiful. What is beauty?

Who is beautiful? If you take a microscope and look at this beauty through the microscope, very carefully. If she's beautiful, she's simply beautiful under microscope or without microscope, right? is no beauty there.

So but still, you know, it's illusion. You know, we say he's beautiful, she's beautiful, he's good, she is good.

Consequences of living by personal preferences

But uh ultimately this is all illusion because uh it's all very much relative and it's all based on the wrong conception.

And Bhagavad Shri Krishna Bhagavad Gita and again and again says when you're guided by this conception good, and bad, uh each hand version, I like this, I hate this, then you will base your life.

From this illusory or relative conception, uh you will get so many other conceptions. You will say this is happiness, this is dukkha, this is sukha.

You will say this is honor and this is dishonor. Uh this is cold and this is hot. And in this way uh you will always uh lead your life trying to obtain what you think is good And the most uh the most uh the most vicious result of this wrong conception is that by trying to obtain good and by trying to avoid bad Krishna says that I am behind everything.

And when we say this is good, this is bad, it means that we reject something and they accept something. If Bhagavān is everything, then how we can reject half of Bhagavān?

We say I only like this Bhagavān, but I don't like this Bhagavān. We will not be able to see uh the reality as it is, we will only see this duality which is wrong.

What Krishna is trying to explain to us is that the reality as a whole is whole and we have to accept reality as it is and it means that we are accepting God. But we're dividing one reality into two.

And this is the fundamental mistake which people do. Like people in India from time immemorial would go to Himalayas and they would practice yoga. And by practicing yoga they would chant this mantra om om and

the meaning of this mantra is literal meaning is yes yes And that's very important mantra to say yes. Because usually people say no, this is no and this is yes, no, yes, yes, no, yes, yes, no, no, no, yes, yes.

Four degraded mentalities in material world

But Bhagavad Sri Krishna says that we have to say yes to him. And as a result of this mentality, this I like, this I don't like,

I develop uh four types of mentality which uh Śrīla Prabhupāda explains in the purports and which Sri Krishna mentioned before.

This duality or this illusion, yes or no, I like this, I don't like this, ultimately leads us to four types of mentality sinful, atheistic, foolish or deceitful. Krishna says uh te uh nair na rādhāmā Skriti.

Maya Pakita This is This is what Śrīla Prabhupāda is mentioned in this purport that ultimately you develop a very very bad mentality. I was sinful, sinful, uh Pop or the sinful or just foolish or just grossly atheistic.

This is the choice which we have in this material world basically.

Either we we can become very nice fools or we can become very crooked liars and uh very crooked people or we can become very nice atheists or we can become uh very sinful people. You can choose whatever you like.

And as a result of this, uh we actually invite suffering in our life. Please think about it a little bit more when you leave this class that

if you're only guided by this principle, I like this and I hate something else, you will inevitably commit sin. In the course of trying to obtain what you think is good, you will commit sins.

So many people are doing this.

So many people because they like money because, they like some position, because they like something which is totally illusory, which doesn't have any substance, they commit so many sinful activities.

And these sins they stick within our mind.

Spiritual degradation through sinful desires

And they bring about degradation of our mentality so that in the next life we will become animals. Basically this life of deciding this is good, this is bad, this is animalistic life.

Animals, we can see, they also have this conception, this is good, this is bad. There is a very nice animal which is called hog. It has a very special gift of God. It's a great blessing to this particular soul.

This animal likes stool. For him, stool is very tasty. Especially if it's a fresh stool.

Very practical for us, you know, to get some taste we have to do so many difficult preparations, you know, add some good things. For the hog, it's easily available everywhere. It can have feast 30 days a month. Every day.

My god, what a feast! Isn't it a good blessing? But this is the result of the degradation of consciousness. This is when the people they develop this perverted taste, then ultimately,

you know, I like this, I like this, I like this, ultimately the taste becomes perverted, then ultimately they become like... Already in this life so many people eat uh substances. This is your main message.

I'm I know better, I am from Russia. You don't know what people eat over there. I also live sometime in in Sweden. For us somebody can be a Swede, maybe right?

And in Sweden there is a very delicious food which they Swedish people only eat when there is a big festival. I'm really sorry to say this before the feast, but I have to say the truth.

They take fish and they put fish in a warm place and they keep it for two weeks when it becomes totally rotted. And then they eat it. But this is this is what it is.

If I only guide it by this principle, I like this, I don't like this, ultimately I will end up liking something really which is something abominable. And I will not even notice how it will happen with me.

I will commit one sin, another sin, another sin, and due to this sins which I can make. Ultimately I develop all this perverted kind of tastes, and ultimately this will bring me down to this animal life.

But people they think that the essence of life is to choose between good and bad. Measure the taste of life is always choose this is I like and this I don't like.

Like now all these people who produce all kinds of stuff, useless stuff on the market, they use this crazy mentality. You know, there are chaurāśī lakṣa mobile phones. Yes, you do a little product plus two.

And in this life you choose between these chaurāśī lakṣa mobile phone models. I like this, I don't like this. But due to this mentality, next life you will be able to choose between chaurāśī lakṣa, uh, animal form of life.

Aligning desire with divine principles

Krishna says that the deciding factor of our life should be what he likes and what he doesn't like. Generally, what do you think? How much we have to first think: not what I like, what God likes and what he doesn't like.

And he says, what I like is called Dharma. Well, one can actually jaldī aur jaldi-wālā harmony. And what I don't like is called Papa.

And he says here that you will be able to get rid of this more illusion only when your principle in life will be I will follow what Krishna likes and I will avoid what Krishna doesn't like.

And ultimately what Krishna likes is good for us in the ultimate sense. It's good for us in the physical sense, it's good for us in the emotional sense and in the ultimate sense, in a spiritual sense.

What Krishna likes is good for us, what Krishna doesn't like is bad for us.

He says that because of this weakness of the heart, when we are committing all these sinful activities, being guided by this wrong illusory conception, good and bad, we become bewildered and we are not capable of following the religious path strictly.

Every one of us has this problem. We know that religious path or spiritual path is good but sometimes we lack the strengths or the willpower to follow it.

Krishna says that if you uh commit sinful activities that ultimately you become very weak and you will not be able to follow the process of spiritual life in a very direct and determined way. You cannot be dṛḍha-vrata.

And that's the main obstacle or the main problem on the spiritual path. We know it's good, but at the same time we are too weak to follow it.

Sometimes people they justify their sinful activities by different ways, so sometimes they say when I become old and useless, then I'll chant. I am only sixty-five years old. I still have ten more years to enjoy.

When I'm 75, then I will really chant Hare Krishna. Actually it doesn't matter whether you're twenty-five or thirty-five or forty-five. If you commit sinful activities you become weak.

Overcoming weakness through saintly association

You become weak physically, you become weak emotionally, and ultimately you become weak spiritually. So what is the solution? We already have committed so many sinful activities, right?

We have already passed through chorasi lakh of uh forms of life. We all have been pigs. I'm sorry to say this, but this is truth.

We were little mosquitoes and we were sucking the blood of others and all this mentality is still there.

So to practice spiritual life we have to give up this sinful activity or sinful mentality and there is only one way to do it.

Śrīla Prabhupāda explains this in the purport that there is only one way to get rid of this weakness which we developed through our uh sinful past.

You know, people especially nowadays in Kali-yuga, everyone is very sinful. Everyone is Kali-yuga mental. Some go to a party. One way or another we committed some sinful activities.

There is only one saving grace which can help us to follow this spiritual path which is that is sādhu-saṅga. Satsang. Satsang.

Only if you uh only if you associate with sādhu, only if you are in the society of sadhus, only if you come to sadhus, then you will get strength within your heart to follow spiritual practice. Otherwise you are doomed.

Not because Lord wants you to be doing it, but because the sinful activities will bring you down and down and down. This is the this is the law of nature.

If you commit sinful activities your heart will become very hard, very heavy. And this heavy heart will bring you down and down and down. So what to do? There is only one way.

You have to come to those who live pure life and they will give you strength and they will give you happiness of this pure life.

The amazing quality of a real sadhu is that it's not that he is living a still life, it's not that he is you know really restricting himself, but you can see he is happy. And because he is happy he gives the sense of happiness to you as well.

And you get this sense that maybe I should wait till I'm 75 to start practicing spiritual life. Spiritual life is blissful from the very beginning.

Very beginning it it brings you relief from your karma which you don't notice now. Like now there is a scientific fact that there is a very heavy I I think a few tons of weight on our shoulders.

The air itself is so heavy because it's so big, you know so big pillar of air upon our shoulders, na but we don't know In the same way, there is a heavy load of karma in every one of us. Karma Kabi Hamarabas as a boja.

And we think it's okay, it's fine. I'm okay. I am not so bad. My neighbor is much worse than the policy was just a ball colour. What difference does it make? Who is your neighbor?

You know, you will go to hell, not your neighbor. Oh you will go with your neighbor to hell. And he will become your neighbor in hell. That's also policy. So you have to eradicate this heavy load of karma now.

And the only way to do it, the only way to get determination and to get the strength to follow the spiritual practice is to have satsang, to have the association with sadhu people.

Perceiving God in every moment

Sadhu sami you have to get some sahi bhattam sometimes. And as soon as you get this, immediately, and this is the bonus, not

only you get rid of your karma, not only you become happy in this life, not only you obtain the spiritual strength, but the most important result of the spiritual practice, when you get rid of this sinful mentality of good and bad, I want and I hate, the most important result is that you see God behind everything.

You see how Bhagavān is coming to you in all the events of your life. And they said like every day we come to the temple and we have darśana of Bhagavān and we pray to him, Govinda Madipur Sutta Mahabhajany.

But if we get rid of the sinful mentality of good and bad and of this heavy load of sins, then we will have darśana of Krishna every moment of our life. He says I am available, I am there.

Only because we are fools, because we are sinful fools, we cannot see. And by being near God what can be better than by living with God, then nothing bad can happen to you, everything

which you will have will make you happy but what is having a blank h So this is my little message to you. We are following the words of Bhagavān Śrī Krishna. He says, if you want to become strong in your spiritual practice,

you have to get rid of your pāpa. And Papa is coming from this conception, good and bad. The real conception which we have to develop within our heart.

Good is what Krishna likes and what he says in Bhagavad-gītā and other scriptures and śāstras and bad is what he doesn't like and what he prohibits. niṣedhas which is there in different śāstras as well.

But to be able to follow this pure religious life, spiritual life, you have to have association with sādhus. This is most important.

So please, please, try to seek this association and get every chance of this saintly associations within your life.

And Śrī Caitanya Caritāmṛta says that sādhu-saṅga, sādhu-saṅga, sarva-śāstra-kāya — — that one split second of association with sādhu can bring you complete perfection of life sarva-śāstra-kāya. Just one second,

one split second of association with sadhu can bring you complete perfection of life because it can can give you faith within your heart. That just one split second can give you enough strength to follow

the pure life till the end of your life and at the end of your life you will see Krishna, you will see Bhagavān and you will become the happiest person in the world. So this is a little message for today.

Please don't become degraded. Don't become like a coke in this life.

Story illustrating the power of association

Try to become a pure human being with the best possible qualities through this scientific process of association. Just before I end, I'll tell you a little story which Śrīla Prabhupāda was told.

told. This little instructive story is called "The Power of Association". One man in the morning — I'm really sorry, today's special class was about certain physiological aspect of our life.

So one man in the morning was passing too. And when he was done with this business, he looked at the stool with disgust. And the stool answered him The stool told him, "Last night I was very nice and juicy halva.

Just see what I have become due to one night association with you. This is the power of this undervaluation of people. You also say it with something good, you will become good.

And if you also say it with something bad, you will also become bad. And it doesn't take long. It happens very quickly. Thank you very much. Very quickly. Śrīla Prabhupāda ki jaya! Os homens estão perguntando os comemorados.
