Divine mercy and pure devotee compassion
iti vijñāya devi tvaṁ naya māṁ caraṇāntikam. So yesterday we started speaking a little bit about the adbhuta-līlā of Bāla Kṛṣṇa, the first līlā on this earth, Pūtanā-vadha.
Gatakāla āmarā kichu Kṛṣṇa-līlā sambandhe ālocanā Gudatila And I was describing the connection between this Leela and the theme of this convention, compensation.
This karuna shakti is the most essential Shakti of the Lord. The Bhagavan Aji Karuna Shakti Shita Mo Shakti.
And therefore the devotees who are coming closer to the Lord also have a reflection of this shakti within their heart. And we can recognize the real devotee by this quality of karuna, of mercy, of compassion.
Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura says that the same emotion is manifest towards God as prema love to Ajay Amadironuhuti Shita Bhagavan Prutijakon Prakashitanghai
Bhishtal The very same emotion, the very same emotion which manifests in the heart of a pure devotee towards God as prema manifests towards the living entity as compassion and mercy.
We shouldn't think that this compassion towards living entities, jīve-dayā, as Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura says, is something mundane. When the heart of a pure devotee becomes filled with transcendental energy of Krishna-premā, it manifests towards the living entity as mercy or compassion.
When the heart of a pure devotee melts and becomes liquid because of the emotion of love towards God, the same liquid or very soft heart manifest as compassion towards everyone and ultimately manifest as preaching of the glories of the Supreme Lord.

Srila Prabhupada's compassion in Mayapur
She onuhuti Bashi Srila
Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja tells a beautiful story about Śrīla Prabhupāda. Srila Jayapataka Maharaj, Rupad Shamanda Tanda Shunduritti Galpabala Sri. He tells them when there was an opening of Lotus building in Mayapur, devotees had a big feast in Mayapur.
And as you know after the big feast all the plates of the leaf plates, banana plates are put in a big garbage pile with all the remnants of uh food which is there.
And the ask me of the fella they await Chilo, which Prashado Mistri, a mo Prashad Chilo.
Prabhupada went to his room after this big festival and feast, and he was trying to rest, but then he heard some howling of the dogs and some cries of children, and he went to see what's happening.
Giachilen, Bishram Korarjon, Kindo our Kone, Kitsu Tony Archilo, Shechane Kukur Toni Abong, Kisu Shishur Krombon Doni, Unarcone Brabus Korchillo.
And he saw that in this big garbage pile where all the leaf plates were thrown with all the uchitas, all the remnants of the prasad, there are some dogs and little local kids are fighting for this remnants.
Galengi Reclen the Kukur Gulu She Gulukavarchesta Gutsilo K into Shekhanestani of Shishishu Judokot Silokura Shate Shap and a Kukur Kabe tiny. At that time Prabhupada starts crying. He was crying and crying and crying.
He said look how miserable miserable is this life, how miserable is this world. Little boys have to fight for remnants of food with dogs. And at that time he said that within the radius of ten miles around our temples,
nobody should starve. people say it's mundane, some people say, you know, what is the use of giving food to hungry people? We should give them holy name. Yes, we should give them Harinam, but we also should give them food.
Compassion means compassion.
Purification through contact with Krishna
And if there is a compassion in the heart, it will manifest one way or another. Yesterday I was telling that whenever in whichever way somebody will come in contact with Krishna, his heart will be purified.
So Jaykunu Panthai, Jaykunu Karani, Jekunu Kyuja Dev Bhagavan Sri Krishna Sha Jupta Habi, Tanitata Ridaya Bushu Dhayabe Because this is the Vastu Shakti of Krishna. Vastu Shakti of Krishna. This is an essential Shakti of Bhagavan.
Vastu Shakti by definition is such Shakti, then whenever something comes in contact with this, it will become influenced by this very shakti. Like Vastu Shakti of the fire is to burn.
So whatever comes in contact with fire will be will take the effect of this burning potency of the fire. Vastu Shakti of Sparsamani of Chintamani So whatever comes in contact with sparsamani will be turned into gold.
So sparsamone and the way. In the same way, Vastu Shakti of Krishna is Karuna Shakti.
So whatever comes in contact with Krishna in whichever way comes in contact with Krishna will feel this compassion of Krishna and will feel purification.
He will feel whoever comes in contact with Krishna he will feel that his heart is becoming purified.
Therefore in this verse it is said, Therefore in this verse it is said noti calamasho that very soon sadhya vidunoti purification will take place, of all the kalmash, of all the pap, of all the sin which is there in the heart.
And it doesn't matter, you can glorify the Supreme Lord Yad Kirtanam, you can remember the Supreme Lord, Yad Smara, you can see the Supreme Lord, Yadikshanam, you can pray to the Supreme Lord, Yad Vandanam, you can hear about the Supreme Lord, Yad Shravanam, you can Yadharhanam, you can worship the Supreme Lord.
At a Kik Shambhala, Chapni Boghovan at Bunuhima Kutti Baran, Shiddink Ton Bolo, Chapni Bogovanka Dorshon Kurtivaran, Chapura Bogovane, Cotashunte Baran, Bogovanki Puja Gutivaran, at a Jekunub Habia Pi Hogan Sha de Jukto de Baron. Like in this particular story which we are trying to tell, uh Putana she wanted to kill Krishna.
But she saw little baby Krishna. And she said few nice words of such a nice baby, such a beautiful baby, oh such so nice, so nice, so nice. Sundar she said. And Krishna said, oh, you are very Sundar.
Krishna will then to me on Shundar. And I will make you eternally Sundar in the spiritual world. So, and that's the point which I was trying to make yesterday.
that when we hear about Krishna the purification will take place. But I also I said that there are five results of hearing Krishna Katha. Dami, Arabalichi Lamje, Pasti, Fall Reservogan, Shri Krishna Katha Shunar.
First result is that we get some interest towards Krishna, some Aratya, our indifference towards Krishna, dissipates, goes away. Our Vitrishna the thirst for material life and material enjoyment goes away.
Sattvam Sudhaati, our Sattvam, our mind becomes pure, Evan Suddhahabay. And Harol Bhakti, Bhakti towards Hari, who is taking away all these and especially things from our heart manifest.
Hearing Krishna katha through systematic meditation
And ultimately friendship or good feelings towards all the devotees of the Lord, like-edmind devotees, will also manifest within our heart.
But I wanted to go a little further today and, I wanted to say how we should hear so that all these effects would take place in our heart.
Because sometimes people say, I have heard so many times, I am hearing all the time, Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, and still all this calmness is still there in my heart.
So on exhamoy, onekhokurabulhana, onekoni on ekonikraman kuritsi, the tarpuru the hagat samadhirusta, she so does it mean that Shukadev Gaswami is wr Or does it mean that you are an exception from the universal rule?
You are the only exception. Possible but uh it only means ultimately that uh we're not properly hearing about Krishna. In Brihadharanyaka Upanishad, there is a famous passage which is often quoted by our Acharya.
Atmavare Drastavyam Srotavyam Mantavyam Nididyasitavyam. It means that Atmavare Drashtavyyama, ultimately you have to see God. Ultimately you have to see him face to face.
But there is a process how you to get to this point. Uh it is said the ātmā vā are drashtavyam shrotavyam first you have to hear.
But then next mantavyam, uh after sravanam there should be mananam there should be thinking about what we heard. Like yesterday Bhakti bringa Govinda Maharaja while chanting after chanting his kīrtana
he said you got some wealth. Please don't waste this wealth. When we hear about Krishna, then we have to keep what we heard within our heart and it means that we have to think about what we heard.
But if we start immediately talking sthāna prajalpa, then the whole wealth is wasted.
And after thinking about the Lord, ātmā vā are srotavyam mantavyam nididhyā- sitavyam, after thinking about the Lord, we have to really meditate on the Lord.
This complete concentration on the Lord will bring about the experience of seeing the Lord. So first srotavyam then mantavyam then nididhyāsitavyam then dras So this is the process, and uh why I'm telling this uh because I
will try to explain to you this līlā in a way how ācāryas explain and when you see how they explain the lila you will see how much thinking and how much dhyāna, how much meditation is there in their uh understanding.
When we hear about the pastimes of Krishna, ultimately our concentrations should be so much that we should see them how they happen in front of our eyes.
And when we have this uh clear vision of the pastimes of the Lord, then really the purification will take complete place in our heart.

Nanda Maharaja returning to Gokula
So we will start with the first verse of the sixth chapter of the tenth canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam.
Please repeat Śrī-śuka uvāca chah shorer, Nanda Pativa chorer, Namri Sheti Vichintayan, Nam Rishintayan, Harim Jagama Sharanam, Harim Jagama Sharanam Utpatagama Sankita, Patagama Shankatam.
So okay, we'll read the translation. Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued. Shukade Gushan Gold Sen. My dear King,
While Nanda Mahārāja was on the way home, he considered that what Vāsudeva had said could not be false or useless. There must have been some danger or disturbances in Gokula. As Nanda Mahārāja thought about the danger for his beautiful son Krishna, he was afraid and took shelter of the lotus feet of the Supreme Controller.
Though Dini Ottonhido and Porteilen Porme Shall Hobovanir. So with your permission I will start my little katha. As I said yesterday, Vasudev wrote a letter to Nanda Maharaj. And he sent his old servant to Gokula.
And in this letter, he said, please come to Mathurā as soon as possible and bring uh very rich gifts to King Kamsa.
And when this old servant of Vasudev came to Nanda Mahārāja, he told him everything what happened in Mathura in the meantime. He told him that our cruel king came to the prison of Devakī and Vāsudeva.
And he saw a little baby girl. And even though it was predicted that the eighth uh child of Devakī will be son, it was a little baby girl.
And Devakī started crying and crying and crying and asking, please, my dear brother, please don't kill this little baby. She's girl, she's innocent, don't do anything to her.
Still, Kamsa, cruel as he is, took this little baby girl and smashed her on the stone. Shantanti Chilo, she shantanti mechilo, they bookikana cochillos Yamabhai, Shetome, Tumitake, Meruna, Tutan Pure, Churedi, Tako Hotakot.
And then amazing thing happened because this little baby girl somehow rather flew up in the sky and manifested her eight arms form.
And she said, You fool, Kamsa, you're fool. You are trying to escape your death, but you will die anyway. And somebody who will kill you is already born somewhere.
And Kamsa for some time he felt some remorse and some transformation in the heart and he started begging forgiveness from his sister and his brother-in-law Vāsudeva and Devakī.
And he released Vāsudeva and Devakī from prison for some time. And this old servant of Vāsudeva he was saying to uh Nanda Mahārāja,
so Vāsudeva is asking you, please come as soon as possible to Mathura and pay taxes to King Kamsa, and then you will have meeting with Vāsudeva. To Shokol Shabokera, Nanda Maharaj Shokal Brittan to Bulshila,
Chitil Tumiasha Shabur to Masha the Bosh, Shakureshotavu.
Vasudeva meeting Nanda Maharaja in Mathura
And Nanda Mahārāja in a hurry, he went to Mathura with a big cart, lots of different jewels and milk products and ghee and everything else.
And when he brought all these riches to King Kamsa, even King Kamsa became little pleased with him. pleased with Nanda Mahārāja. He is a demon.
But even though he is a asura, he is a demon, even though he is very demonic, uh Śrīla Jīva Gosvāmī says devotees are so nice that even demons are sometimes pleased with them.
Look into Jivagu Shabhokar at all, Jalkarani Kokona Kokono, Hokko de Putishondo.
As Prabhupāda used to say, my devotees should be perfect gentlemen. Whoever is a devotee, he is pleasing to everyone, even to the asuras sometimes. You know, like uh some some years ago when devotees in Russia were put in prison.
And they were sitting with some criminals, with some cruel criminals. And it's not a very nice place to be in prison, especially in Bangladesh or in India or in Russia. It's not a nice place.
But all the devotees who went through prison, they said that actually, I asked one devotee, how was it in prison? He said it was very nice in prison. Everyone respected me so much. Why? Because this is the devotee.
When devotee is sincere in the heart, everyone will respect him. So and then Vāsudeva uh secretly goes to meet with Nanda Mahārāja's Mathurā in Madhura. To Tarpur Nanda Maharaj Guponi Boshudeva. Basudef goes.
Basudeva Shadeshakatko. Basudef knows that there are KGB spies everywhere. The Basudev dramas the KGB is a Gwendaran, Shabjaya Red T. Not exactly but anyway so uh so uh uh uh uh n Nanda Maharaj is meeting
secretly with Vāsudeva. The Nanda Maharaj Gupon Ekishobakulin Bashakolem Vasudev Shakev. And Vāsudeva, his heart is full of anxiety.
Please imagine, you know, Vāsudeva, he's the only one besides his wife, Devakī, who knows this secret. My little son, eight son of Devakī, who is the death enemy of King Kamsa, is in Gakula with Nanda Mahārāja.
And he wants to know whether Nanda Mahārāja knows about this, whether some other people know about this or nobody knows about this. So Ikane Shudumato Chinta Gradekhanja Shudumato Bashudiv Shedanto Shantanti
Sha Krishna Shotru and So uh he wants to ask such questions uh so
that he would understand whether Nanda Mahārāja somehow or other found out that it's not his son, that this is the son of Vāsudeva, or he doesn't still know anything about this secret.
Vāsudeva wants to find out from Nanda Mahārāja, what's whether he knows this or not. So Basudev Nanda Maharaj Gathe, Irubam Bhavi Ghostabra, Nanda Maharajani, the Aji Krishna Bh
Śukadeva Gosvāmī describes their meeting. He says that when they met, when Vāsudeva and Nanda Mahārāja met, their hearts become joyful and they embraced each other. They embraced the same.
Describes how much on Bashude Maharaj, Mirito Hilen, Tokon Tati Rido, Purno Rupe, Tati Rido Anondola oret chilotara.
He says that they embraced each other, they didn't bow down to each other because they were so close to each other. And then uh Vasudev is approaching
or is addressing Nanda Maraj and says, Oh my dear brother Nanda, you're so fortunate. Ultimately, after so many years, little son was born to you.
You were waiting and waiting and waiting for so many years and there was no son of you.
And Srila Prabhupada explains that usually when there is no sun, no sun, no sun for a long time, and when the father becomes old then even if he had some baby usually it's a baby girl. And
he says, yeah, finally you got a son, and he looks at uh at Nanda Maharaj, whether he will show something or didn't show anything. Whether he will show that he knows this is not my son, this is your son or not.
And then Nanda Maharaj gets... Yeah, and the Maharaj he says, yes, yes, yes, I have a little baby son and Vasudev he has a relief. He doesn't know anything, he doesn't recognize anything.
And then Vasudev he wants to find out whether everything is okay with little son, everything is okay with Yesoda, and everything is going on nicely. But he shouldn't be a schocked to take a chance. But he is very afraid.
He thinks maybe there is some spy, some KGB listening, what is going on. And if I ask too much about this little son, maybe Kamsa will get a wrong idea that maybe it's my son.
So Vasudef is asking, listen what he's asking Nanda Maraj. He's not asking how's your son, how's your shoulders, how are you? He's asking how are your cows.
And one can wonder, you know, what does it have to do with Krishna? How is your cows? And then he says, do your cows have enough grass to eat? But the acaryas they explain the inner meaning of Vasudeva.
He says you know basically he says if the cows have enough grass to eat then they will have enough milk. If they have enough milk then Yashoda will have enough food to uh to eat.
If Yashoda has enough food to eat, then she has enough milk for the baby Krishna. And if she has enough milk for baby Krishna, Baby Krishna is okay. So everything depends on cows.
Tatakhan Vasudev Nanda Maharaj boledchen, "Tohader gabi-gulo jodi yatheṣṭa ghas-bhas teye thake, ebong tara yadi bhalo gabi dudh debe, ebong se dudh kheye, yadi bhalo gabi dudh pan kore Yashoda sustha thakben, ar Yashoda sustha thakle onar śarīr yadi sustha thake,
tokhon śiśu-kṛṣṇa ānande puṣṭi lābh korbe." And then Nanda Maharaj, he started saying, I know Vāsudeva. And and then Nanda Maharaj starts saying to Vāsudeva, my dear Vāsudeva, I know you have a horrible life.
You're not happy because your little babies are being killed by this cruel cancer, uh one after another after another, after another. And even this little baby girl was killed.
But then he says everything in the hands of God. Please don't be sad. You know, I'm really with you. I'm I'm my heart is paining because of your pain. Again, this is the quality of a devotee.
He is a parād-duḥkha-ki-duḥkha. He takes the sufferings of others as his own sufferings. And then Vasudev says him very important thing to Nanda Maharaj, Vasudev says to Nanda Maharaj. Basudef is little pacified.
He knows that his secret is not known to anyone, that Nanda Mahārāja is really innocent. He doesn't know that this is not his son, that this is the son of Vāsudeva.
So he's pacified and he says, please go back home as quickly as possible. So Nandama Maharaj Jantyanji Ita Nandana.
No, Vāsudeva found out that Nanda Maharaj, yeah, it says, "Jāo, jāo, jāo Gokule." It says, "You go to Gokula because I think something wrong is going to happen there. Go quickly.
And in this first verse of the sixth chapter, Śukadeva Gosvāmī says, Nanda Maharaj goes back and his heart is in complete anxiety. So Ekane Shashto Dhe Gorito Shamsko Nanda Maharaj Rida Shampuna Habai Shpakhon He
thinks Vasudev said there will be some trouble in Gokul and he cannot be wrong. And at that moment, you know, his heart becomes Bayaheat, full of fear. So his heart becomes full of fear and then what he does?
He takes shelter of the Supreme Lord. Harim Jagana Saranam. We know that sometimes this world is, as Śrīla Prabhupāda explains in the purport, padam padam Yatvi Padam Natesham.
The dangers are there in this world on every step. But what devotees should do in this condition, they should take shelter of the Lord.
And as Queen Kuntī says, uh Kuntī-devī says, you know, please send all these dangers again and again to me. In this way we will be able to think about you all the time.
Kamsa dispatching Putana to kill infants
So Nanda Maharaj, he takes complete shelter of Hari, who takes away all inauspiciousness, who steals all the inauspicious things from this world. So Nanda Maharajuni Huriashra Njehokol a Mongol Gulu Durkoren Aja Gothe. And then Shukadev Gaswami continues with his description of what's going on in Gokul in the meantime.
Kamsana Prahita Gora, Putana Balagatini, Shishums Chachara Nignanti, Pura Grama Vrajadishu while Nandamarach was going home in the meantime what happened
uhsena prahita gora putana balagatini in the meantime kamsa engaged Putana in his nefarious deeds.
To Ishama Jakun Nanda Maharajat Zilen Gokule, Takon Putona ke Kong show, Urokomkat Korajuno In Madhura, Kamsa called all his demons' friends, all his ministers, and he told them what happened with this little baby girl.
The Shokal Oshudde K Moturateni Kong show meeting correct and a bong Uni Ekota Boshi L and Jeshu Jeshutto Balika Koranati Bepale Kihoetchila. Shila Jivika Swami says that all these demons in one room they started roaring like tigers.
They were starting you know roaming from one corner of another to another corner on the room like tigers going in a cage.
Tara Yak Kunate Kokeronaporto Goragori Burchillo Tigemon Epic Hachar Vitore Vajirocom Ashajaku. When they heard that this girl said your killer, your murderer is already born, they became really angry.
And then they said we should do something about it. And then they got this glorious plan. If he is born somewhere, we will kill every new born babies. We will find all these babies and we will kill all of them.
And immediately they got an idea we will engage Putana in this. And they called Putana from the lower planetary system. Putana was daughter of Maharaja Bali. And she loved to eat babies.
Shila Jevagaswami said that she would eat babies like Bengalis would eat rice not exactly but almost he said she would eat babies like a pile of rice.
So she managed to be onokai, kick shirogom, putona oi shishulman shokhai. So sometimes you see like Bengalis they eat a big pile of rice this big. So she would put babies like this and eat them.
So it is said that Kamsana Prahita Gora Putana Balagatini. Balagatini means that she loved to eat babies.
The Balagatini man said she should take a hottagori head about some that was her little hobby to eat little babies. And uh he said come send a prahita goran uh
Śrīla Jīva Gosvāmī also explains commenting on this verse that actually Kamsa was very good manager. manager chilo. He was engaging everyone according to their propensities.
No, the good manager he can see the propensity of his subordinates. And he engaged everyone accordingly.
So Kamsa could see nice propensity in this Pūtanā and she said let her be engaged according to her nature. And they sent Pūtanā and said, please kill all the babies which are there.
And the word Pūtanā means it's a very interesting word the word Pūtanā means. Atonasundar Pūtanāśabdaye Pūtāmīti iti Pūtanā Pūtāmīti Pūtanā is the one who can even uh uh kidnap or eat innocent baby.
So pūtanā niṣpāpa śiśuke, Pūtam means uh very innocent, very pure little baby. Pūtanā mānote niṣpāpa śiśu and put them up in night, she would steal away even little babies and eat them. So cruel she was.
Kaṭora niṣṭhura śiśu vadha is what is going on. Kamsa is engaging this cruel Pūtanā and Pūtanā goes around and uh uh trying to you know steal the babies.
So Kaṃsaḥ ehi śiśu Pūtanāke preraṇa karalen, ebaṃ se yogya bhāve niṣpāpa śiśudere kidnap bāśuri kare. And Viśvanātha Cakravartī Thakur says that there are three reasons why people become degraded to this extent.
First reason is karma or the nature, the propensity. Prathamatei karma-vāsanā āmāde. Another reason is association, Sangha. And another reason is uh janma, uh jāti, or uh birth in a particular family.
So Putana was cruel by her nature, by her karma. So Pūtanā ceta svabhāvat svabhāveṭī She had bad association with other demons. And she was coming from this bad family, from this uh Vamsha of demons.
Protective potency of chanting holy names
Anyway, so this was the second verse and uh uh when when he says please listen because this is a very important verse and I guess
the next verse is very important for us because uh Śrīla Śukadeva Gosvāmī makes a very important Siddhanta for every one of us.
When he said to Mahārāja Parīkṣit that this ghora, this cruel witch, Pūtanā, is going to Gokula to kill the babies. He could see that Maharaja Pariksit became full of anxiety. She had Bonona Kurzilan.
The put on a Goku legi and his paper combacum and corbe. She tune Polikit Maharaj Rido Begilo. What will happen with little baby Krishna? When we hear about this, we know nothing will happen with Krishna.
Krishna is God anyway.
But we will never understand anything about Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam unless we feel the same sort of feeling as Śukadeva Gosvāmī is feeling, as Madhva Sūri is feeling, Nanda Mahārāja is feeling, Vasudeva is feeling.
Actually at this moment of time our hearts should also be filled with fear and anxiety. What will happen with Krishna? And we say no, nothing will happen with Krishna. No, but it means that we don't understand.
So Śukadeva Gosvāmī, he sees, he looks at Mahārāja Parīkṣit and he sees he's full of anxiety. And therefore he would be and therefore he tells this beautiful verse, the third verse of the sixth chapter.
Nayatra Sravanadini Raksu Nayatra Sravanadini, Raksugnani Svakarmasum, Rakshagnasum, Kurvanti Satvatambartur, Kurvanti Satatambartur
So listen very carefully because it's very important verse and it uh is very relevant for our life. Nayatra Sravanadini uh Rakshabnani Karmasu Svakarmasu.
In those places where people are listening about Krishna and chanting his glories and doing or at the same time doing their svakarma, their duties.
When people are engaged in this way, when they're doing their duties, and at the same time hearing or chanting the glories of Lord Krishna so Dajai Manush Bhavan Sri Krishna Kota Kirton Kore von Karmuhima Shravon Korevon Pasha Pashi Tadarish And this
place nothing inauspicious will happen with them. Why? Because this sound vibration about Krishna. Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare / Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare.
This sound vibration of Krishna, of Krishna's holy name is Raksha Gnani. Raksha Gnani means that all inauspicious elements, all these Rakshasas and Buddhas and everything will be killed by this sound.
So he says that nothing inauspicious will happen because in Gokul everyone is chanting Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Ram Hare Ram Ram Ram H Ariari.
Sometimes devotees are becoming for it, what something something will happen with me, something is bad will happen with me.
And they go to an astrologer and they ask astrologer, please give me some upai, what which stone I should wear and my you know ring so that nothing inaus will happen to me.
Sometimes you see the vote is they have this stone and that stone and you know stones on every ring and here and there can be no But Śukadeva Gosvāmī here says that the only sure protection in this world of all inner species of all misfortune is the holy name of the Lord. And if you do your duties, your own duties and at the same time always chant Hare Krishna then nothing inauspicious will happen with you.
There is a beautiful story about Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura from the life of Bhaktivinod Ṭhākura. Once Bhaktivinoda Thakur was traveling on a yatra and he came to Kulinagram.
Kulinagram is a very ancient village where the devotees of Lord Chaitanya were living and it is described in Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta many times. So Kulin Ramhote,
Mahaprabhu Bharashoditshane, Bashkortan, Shida Chitana Judah with the Bonita Hashtag.
And he came with his little son Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura Prabhupāda. His name was Bimala Prasad at that time. And the local people put him in some abandoned house for the night.
And then in the morning they came to Bhaktivinoda Thakur and they asked him very cleverly. How was your sleep? Was your sleep nice? So Shakala Shamay Gamelukarache Bowl and the Rativala Mm Camon Holo.
And he said, yes, yes, yes, I slept very nicely, was a very nice sleep. And I said, how come in this house there is a ghost living, Brahma Rakshas is living?
And this boot is is uh is disturbing everyone nobody can you know he's disturbing everyone he's such a dang. And Bhaktivinoda says, no, there is no problem. I just chanted Mahā-mantra. The Buddh came, he said.
Yes, bhūta came and I just chanted Mahā-mantra and he went away. But they were like, hey, Buddha still, kidday named Silam Shitlay. And the local villagers they became even more amazed.
They said you chanted Mahā-mantra and the bhūta went away. They said this is the ghost of our priest and this priest himself was
chanting Mahā-mantra all his life. Moreover, this bhūta, this ghost himself was chanting Mahā-mantra. How is that that you sent him And
And Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura he smiled and he said, he was not chanting Mahā-mantra. He was chanting just the shadow of Mahā-mantra. He was just chanting the varṇas, the syllables of Mahā-mantra. And I chanted real Mahā-mantra. And don't worry, he went to Wikaunhahi, he will never come back.
So this is this is the difference between Mahā-mantra and Mahā-mantra. Krishna. If you very sincerely chant Hare Krishna, Judyapna Guru Hare Kr With all your heart and with all your faith.
Jodhiapnatpuna Vishashavan Ridha Shahaj. With soul concentration. Then nothing bad will happen to you. My time is over, I have to finish this.
Personal experience of Soviet KGB interrogations
We didn't even start the Katha, we just touched little bit the beginning of Katha.
But I wanted to tell you little, little tiny story from Russian time which proves this very point which Sukadar Gaswani describes in the beginning.
As I promised to Madadevaki then I will tell a little bit about our experience in in Soviet Union and in Russia with the Holy Name Bolshilenje Ambra Soviet Union Russia Jekichu Kahini Sheguru Bolar Johnny and I decided to tell you a little story from my own life.
To continue with the first topic which I started with. So she um Jeto Picturuk or Silam Shida Shade Shong Pictures as I said you know the KGB came to me
and uh they threatened to me and then uh I decided not to surrender to them and uh I rejected their offer and I said that I'm not going to work for you. I will you know I I I am not going to do this.
So Apana Jennings Biamak threat kuratilo evangelanjia na go to hotino evangami apnader cats code pargona. So very soon after that what happened they put in prison so many devotees in Moscow.
It was when they came to me it was maybe February or something like this approximately this time of the year.
And very soon there was Glob Gorpurnima celebration. And so many devotees came together to celebrate Gorpurnima. And there was, you know, probably I mean so many so many probably means twenty or thirty devotees.
And we had a very beautiful kirtan all together. And very loudly we were chanting. Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare, Hare Rāma Hare Rama, Rama Ramahare. Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna
Krishna Hare, Hare Māre Rama Rama, Krishna, Krishna Krishna. Yeah, it was for a long time, you're right. So we were chanting but the KGB was watching us.
And just after a few days they put practically everyone who was present, not everyone, but at least uh ten devotees out of maybe thirty devotees, ten devotees they were put in prison.
And the rest uh who were there uh they were uh calling and they were interrogating them, asking them what you were doing, what is this nonsense, what you were changing, this is a crime, don't you know that this is against the law of our country?
So Aruja Chilo Tadikaradake and Silavang Kadrike, Vihinovabe, Nijjadan Kurchilav Bolchilo Jetumla, etaki at a karab jinish Corto, Jeta Rashian Zhorkar Jeta Birudhe, Solkar Nioman Sarasia Teshita Biru de Korto.
And they called me as a witness also. They knew that I was also there. And they were telling me practically everything which was said during this Gore Purnima celebration.
They knew every single word whoever said something they knew everything. I said my god are they Antariyani in the heart of every living entity? How do they know this?
And they were saying to me, please say everything, confess in everything. We anyway know everything and if you do it we will give you some little you know some little reward or whatever.
So to me the shop kitchen bolo, I'm the shop kitchen, nabuliam, kunashrug. And within my heart I said no I'm not going to say anything. So what happened with me, listen, because it's a very interesting story.
What happened with me, they started calling me regularly. Every few days I had to go to there and I had to spend a few hours with them.
So Taramaki Besh Dak to Kwegin Puripuriya, Kichukhonta Shamoy, Kweg Hundashamoy Tadeshatiamith Hakta. Three, four, sometimes five hours in a row. No, and they were putting so much pressure.
You tell, you know, we will put you in prison, you you are, you know, you're criminal. And uh you know af when I would come there, listen, when I would come there I was very very fearful. I was in complete anxiety.
And they were very strong and they were very pushing and very you know intense.
And for some time we were speaking with them and they were pushing and pushing and pushing and pressing me and interrogating and torturing me mentally. But every time some very interesting thing happened.
You know, after one hour or two hours of this pressuring and torture and interrogation, All of a sudden, I don't know from where it would come. I would start hearing something.
Very loudly from within myself I would hear something. It was not something which I would concoct or imagine or something like this. It was a very very distinct sound which I heard from within my heart.
I would hear Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rāma Hare Rāma Rāma Rāma Hare Hare And when I heard the sound of the holy name from within, uh I would become very very happy.
I would become very very relaxed and peaceful. They were sitting there and yelling at me and a la la la la la. In the beginning I was oh mechanical. Surume, Surume. Sharom.
But then all of a sudden when this sound would come and this sound would come on its own, this sound of her holy name would come on its own, all of a sudden I would become very very peaceful and uh and started smiling.
And they couldn't understand what's going on. He was so afraid now and all of a sudden he's so peaceful. And then I would see they would start trembling. They would start being like this.
And you know, I would sit there and I would say, you know, what do you want from me? Just, you know, just something like this is a good thing.
And they would become really humble and they would say okay you go home, you go home.
And they would call me again and again I would come and again I would be very, you know, boyabit chiabito chi lam to the rama dak chiawala ni chip boyabito chi lam but then again you know the game
the same thing happened three or four times. And then they called me for the fifth time. I I think three or four times it repeated. And for the fifth time they called me.
No, and it's it's a police calling you. You have to come. This is a very serious thing. You have to come otherwise you are in trouble. And I received this fifth invitation to go to the police to be interrogated with them.
And then I looked at this paper. And I said, He said, I'm not going to go there because I'm not there das, I am Krishna Das. I said, why why should I go there? I don't have to And you know I didn't go there.
I mean Jaini Dalika And you know what happened? Nothing. That was it! For some time I was thinking, you know, maybe they will call me again, but they forgot about me.
And I continued with my business, they continued with their business. I was chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa and they were doing their business.
So, so last night, and then not last night, the first night Mother Devakī asked me tell tell us tell us what happened after. So Prathomme and Radivala Devoke Major C and J. Bolo Bolo Pore, Bolan Bolan, Pole Kiwachi So nothing happened
after as I said I took some yards after that. What I want to say, if you surrender to Krishna and if you chant the holy name, nothing inauspicious will happen to you.
Bobani Tarone Shamon Pitahan Evan Purinam Korenta Kichu Mong o Kuno Pichu Amongol Korhabenata. And even if something externally inuspicious will happen to you, internally you will feel completely protected by the Lord.
In the most inauspicious situation you will feel completely happy and protected and safe. This world is full of danger. Padam Padam Yadvipadam Natesam. To ege Purno Rupi Bipodaratson.
On every step there is vipad, there is danger. But there is only one safe place in this world. This is saṅkīrtana. śrī-kṛṣṇa-saṅkīrtana. Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare, Hare. Rama Rama, Hare Krishna,
Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna,
Overcoming anarthas represented by demonic pastimes
Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare. Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare. you very much. So I was told to say little announcement. This is a book by Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī about Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura.
He described how different demons in Vṛndāvana līlā represent different anarchas within our heart.
And in this way we will be able, by listening about these līlās, we will be able to overcome the inner obstacles which are there in the form of our anarthas.
So Amra Krishna Lilaguluke, Straban Koramay, Amadevide, Jonathu Guluaseshion, Vinosh Kotevarbo. And the first Anartha, first impediment, first obstacle on our spiritual path is the false guru.
False gurus, gurus who are trying to teach us materialism, alas. Gurus who by the means the by the poisonous material logic are trying to kill faith in God in our heart.
And so many people are playing this role of material gurus who are trying to kill faith in Krishna within our heart.
But if we very carefully listen and read about this pastime of Putanavad, we will be able to overcome this obstacle on our spiritual path, and the faith, uh, in Kṛṣṇa will become stronger in our heart.
Guru Grahan Koraji Prabhupada Shishita Mra Muktoe Voghon Krishna Kyamra Sita Babu. Please continue hearing the stories about Krishna, chanting his glories and chanting the holy name. And you will be very happy.
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare. Thank you very much.
